More About the Author
I believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. I am all it says I am. I can do all it says I can do. I receive all its promises. I consistently pursue everything that is true, noble, lovely, excellent and ideal. I live the debt free wealth way, and I am a beacon and element of positive change in those who follow me or seek my help. Exercise and healthy nutrition are easy and fun components of my life. I am the help-mate to Dennis (my husband) God designed me to be, and I am a loving mother and friend to those in my life.
I grew up a Missionary Kid who received clothing and other 'donations' from folks who supported my parents in ministry. Straight out of college, I married a man who did not treat me right, and without sharing the horrifying details, that ended with me spiritually, financially and physically broken. I met my soulmate online, and am now happily married for 15 years. During that time, we did all the financial experts suggested and created a comfortable life for our family. Then the economic crisis of 2007-10 happened and stripped us of years of hard work, savings and investment. Now debt free (excluding the mortgage which we are working on) I champion the mission of Debt Free Wealth. Here are more details on my story:

She is the Host of Debt Free Wealth Radio (www.DebtFreeWealthRadio.com)
She is a professional writer, author of THE BIBLE ON BUSINESS & JESUS HAD A STEP DAD TOO, former columnist, former contributor to EHow.com's financial section, has published work ParentLife magazine, Caribbean Lifestyle magazine, and others.
Her BA degree is in Biology, Chemistry and Pre-Medical studies, she pursued (but did not complete) a Masters in Community Health Education, and was a former Instructor Trainer for Fitness Professionals (pre 2007). She is an Instructor Trainer for CPR and other OSHA approved safety training and has a 15 year old company that offers onsite corporate safety training.
I am a wife whose husband has been a solid provider, very attentive to me, and a top-notch dad. He is 6'4″ and full of muscles, and if I even whispered a wish, he seems to have heard it and before I knew it - wish granted. I am in every way, a blessed woman.
I left an executive position with an international airline to marry and relocate to Tampa, and shortly after moving, initially did try to find a new job in my new town. However, as we started talking about children I figured, why quit a new job? That's what I would do the moment the baby was within approximate delivery. We agreed that we would continue to live on one income and I would do something from home that I would not have to give up because baby arrived.
Well, I created a safety training business, which I still have today - which has grown to the point where all systems are go, and it needs very little from me to maintain the momentum. Every dollar I earned from my safety business was always my money to do with as I wanted. None of it ever paid a bill nor did my husband ever ask for a penny of it. My money was my money, and his money was our money. Because I wanted it, I bought real estate, and I bought gold and silver bullion.
My church must have seen the writing on the wall. They offered a Christian Financial curriculum 10 week Bible study and I attended. I met so many Christians who were living debt free while we were using the world's strategy of leveraging debt to obtain more assets. Living debt free was a revolutionary concept to me. I quickly agreed with it, and got further training to become a budget counselor helping church families work on living within and below their means, toward a goal of being debt free. I began to change the way I spent, but the one thing that didn't changed was, my husband still managed our finances
Nevertheless, mid 2006 to early 2010 happened. Initially, there was no panic because we had done all the right things and we had savings, and a solid financial foundation - or so we thought. I can tell you, we would have been fine if this recession had been no more than a year-long.
My husband, a building contractor - saw his business dwindle to almost zero. Our emergency savings went to zero, our 401K tanked so badly yet we had no choice but to cash it in to continue to wait out this phase, our real estate investments were terribly upside down - and for the first time, I saw my husband truly scared. He was having a terrible time dealing with the creditor calls but he did his best to keep me from realizing how bad things had gotten. One day, he crashed from the pressure and I stepped in to help.
Believe it or not, now in my 40s this was the very first time I had the responsibility to balance a check book and care. I feel embarrassed to say that while I was never fancy or interested in designer anything, I also never looked at price to decide if I was going to get something or not. Looking back, I can see how I inadvertently contributed to our situation.
Ignorance is bliss I tell you. I didn't know things couldn't be done, or done a certain way, so I charged in like a bull in a china shop and found that I enjoyed handling money, making financial decisions, buying to get the best price, finding a true deal. My husband seemed quite happy to turn over this aspect of our relationship to me, and with his stress reduced, for the first time, we started having eye-opening discussions about money and retirement and future financial goals. The thing is, this time I got it. I understand why we couldn't do something at all, or not right now. I knew if we could afford something or not, and my husband no longer shelled out money to make my dreams come true - if we didn't have that money to begin with. I am grateful to the Real Estate Bubble crisis for adding a new depth to an already phenomenal marriage.
As we assessed the damage, we realized my fanciful purchase of gold and silver were actually great decisions even though at the time I bought it because it sounded rich to do so. Amazingly, we never had to liquidate one ounce of either; instead with my husband's blessings, I looked for ways to obtain even more.
I woke at 3 A.M. with a conviction about Romans 13:8, and a blueprint for my new theme and business Debt Free Wealth.
"Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law." (NKJV)
In that moment, the Lord showed me, that our financial problems were less about the depreciated asset values and losses, and more about us violating his law - to owe no one anything.
I have read this passage and others about not engaging in debt. The Bible speaks often on that matter - but as a family -and I came to realize, as a people group - Christians ignore this fact. We deliberately look for, and sign our name to debt. What is even more astonishing is - that most Christians, if they will be honest - will realize that just before this 'famine' of the economic recession, the Lord provided bountifully for us. For most of us, we had bumper harvests the years just prior. Unlike Joseph, very few of us set aside any savings or provisions for a day ahead. That day arrived, and we found ourselves mortgaged to the hilt. The creditors were coming.
With this revelation, Debt Free Wealth became my personal mission, and life's work.
On behalf of my family, I was now on a mission for debt free wealth, and as I discovered various secrets and resources, I knew I had a moral obligation to share that knowledge. Debt Free Wealth Radio was born. As I listened to the others around us whine, wish and wait - I knew I had finally found my life's purpose. Having been rescued, I now turn around and use my life boat to rescue others. I now see myself as the Debt Free Wealth Evangelist.
The story of the Titanic is tragic because of the loss, but even more so because of the fact that, of all the lifeboats that left with survivors, only one returned and picked up only 6 more people. Three days later, when people returned to investigate the wreckage, 328 men, women and children were found dead, floating in their life-vests. These were lives that could have been saved if more life boats returned.
Having learned how to navigate debt, and moving progressively toward debt free wealth, how could I NOT return with the rescue boat? There are so many who are like I was - in debt and desperate. I had to come back to see who wanted to be helped, and to help them.
Now money smarter, I started looking for a way to also earn an income with gold and silver. I found Apmex and their affiliate program, but was appalled that although the customers I brought them spent thousands of dollars on each purchase, all I got was $20 per lead. That would not do. I continued my research.
I found several options, most of which kept the assets purchased in their vaults and sent you a monthly sheet of paper declaring your new balance. Since much of our investment funds were lost through a Madoff like scheme, I was having none of that. Eventually, I found what I was looking for. Timing is everything, you see. I was finally in a business opportunity whose product was gold and silver.
My mind was opened to believe that I could build real, live like a rock star wealth. Me. Trudy. I had never considered myself earning income like that. I was a wife. Prior to all this, my area of family contribution was never financial. Having taken on the family finances, I felt excited at being able to stand by my husband's side and re-build the retirement nest egg.
Well, my years of doing whatever I wanted was filled with a lot of personal interest pursuits. During the past 13 years, I had acquired a Real Estate Broker's license, a Notary license, insurance license, qualified as a Paralegal, and learned how to build websites. All those 'just because I wanted to' experiences, became very useful in my new life as a contributor to the family funds.
With only 17 years to my official retirement age (11 for my husband), 4 children, aging parents and a house mortgage still unpaid, it is highly unlikely that any success will be displayed in just for show trophies, travels and trinkets.
So far, we have been able to take our house off the foreclosure list and have not missed a payment since, we crushed all our credit card debt, we paid off my husband's 2007 F250 a year ahead of schedule, we increased our holding of gold and silver assets, and we anticipate having the mortgage fully paid in ten years or less.
My Why is not just to help my husband rebuild our retirement nest egg, but to explore the new me to its full potential. My Why is also my Why Not? Why not me? Why not now? This recession was the turbo charger to the new me, and life has never been more exciting!
What about you? What is your WHY? Why not you? Why not now? I have been there. I know the way out of debt, and the path to debt free wealth. I would love to be your guide and shorten your learning curve and frustrations. Connect with me and tell me how I may be of service to you.
