I liked this book quite a bit. The authors speak with authority because the contents are grounded in real-world examples that are easy to understand. I read the book from the perspective of an entrepreneur-at-heart, but it's clear that the contents of this book can be applied to non-startup situations, and even to non-business situations. One of the things I enjoyed most about it is the toolkit approach, which makes the learnings fairly consumable - I feel like I have some tools in my toolbox the next time I start something. I also appreciate that the language used isn't flowery, overly verbose, or unnecessarily dense. Clearly the authors meant to get right to the point, and they do. I'm going to share this with my friends and colleagues.

I am a huge supporter of the lean methodology but it often has seemed to me that the methodology is presented in an overly complicated way by some authors. This is the first book I've read about lean that really gets to its essential value without distracting the reader with extra information. The lean method is about having conversations to validate problems and potential solutions. And what entrepreneurs really need to think about is how should they structure those discussions and how do they make those discussions most effective.

That is the one and only thing that this book does, and it does it clearly, concisely and convincingly. If you want to start something, or to just learn about how to apply the lean methodology to some aspect of your work, read this book and follow its toolkit approach.

The format of this book was easy to understand and the clear way it outlined how to start a business encouraged me. I now feel like I can use this guide to start my own entrepreneurial aspirations and turn them into a reality.

Just like the title of the book says, these concepts provide a solid framework for starting something new. As someone new to business in general, the amount of things I don't know is often intimidating. This short book breaks down the process of coming up with a new idea into understandable and actionable steps. It is written conversationally, so it's a quick and easy read(no wordy and unnecessary business jargon!). But don't be fooled by the simplicity -- the notion of validating your idea through customer interaction is an invaluable one to anyone looking to save the time, money and energy that is often wasted on ideas that had the odds stacked against them from the start.
