Format: Paperback
Being a person who has experienced déjà vu on several occasions, I found The Deja Vu Enigma intriguing on a personal level. If you've ever found yourself denying your déjà vu, this book will show you the realistic facts about the experiences. The theories and factual information Marie D. Jones and Larry Flaxman present in this book will have even the biggest skeptic questioning their opinion on the subject. Due to some of the religious views regarding déjà vu, many people may deny the theories presented in this book. In keeping an open mind, the authors will possibly change your opinion. If not, they'll get you thinking.

The authors' composure of The Deja Vu Enigma kept me reading from the beginning of the book. With a combination of personal experiences and scientific fact, it becomes an undeniable fact that we all are touched by the subject. The personal experience in the beginning of the book grabs the reader into thinking, "I've experienced that in my life." It was a genius move by the authors. I enjoyed this book immensely and it made me think deeply about the further possibilities in life and my own déjà vu. Déjà vu is a gift to us all and can be used to our advantage. For anyone who's ever had a déjà vu enigma, this is a must read! Even if you haven't, I guarantee you'll find this book very intriguing.-R.J. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Cynthia Sue Larson TOP 1000 REVIEWER on April 15, 2013
Format: Paperback
The Déjà vu Enigma delves into a number of fascinating metaphysical topics that weave together with a central, recurring theme of déjà vu--that eerie sensation of 'remembering' an experience or situation before it occurs. Wherever possible, authors Marie D. Jones and Larry Flaxman reference current scientific studies and research, providing additional insights into what might be going on behind the scenes in our mysterious world.

In addition to déjà vu, some of the related areas covered include: out of body experiences (OBE), astral travel, prodigies and savants, fugues, blackouts, amnesia, schizophrenia, confabulation, ghosts, talking with the dead, and mass hysteria.

While no specific cause of déjà vu is provided as generally agreed upon, many possible explanations are provided, such as the Many Worlds Interpretation (MWI) of quantum physics, malfunctions of the brain, ego defense mechanisms or forgotten dreams.

This book is organized more in the form of a buffet table than a many course-meal, presenting ideas to readers in such a way that they can pick and choose from a rather wide variety of scientific expert opinions, experiential reports and theories.

I particularly enjoyed the question and answer section featuring responses from Michael Schmicker, Pamela Heath, Stanley Krippner, Nick Redfern, Loyd Auerbach, Jay Alfred, Meghan Shannon, and Dale E. Graff to such questions as, "What role do you think belief plays in the manifestation of paranormal phenomenon?"

Highly recommended!

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Midwest Book Review on October 18, 2010
Format: Paperback
Paranormal researcher Larry Flaxman works with Marie D. Jones in this outstanding scientific research piece, which covers short-term memory issues, neuropsychological disorders, and parallel realities alike. Its focus is on mysteries of the mind, and its chapters consider how the brain perceives reality and how dream states and parallel universes work in brain and time perception. Highly recommended for any new age or brain science collection!
