3.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced short story with bonus fawning bio
The short story revolves around a professor that discovers an ability to use your mind to teleport your physical body anywhere you think of, including inhabitated alien worlds. The story is fast paced and enjoyable and well worth a read at a discounted price. The length is very short though but I can't complain as I picked it up for free.

However, it also...

This was a free download, so I figured, what the heck? While out shopping with my wife, I grabbed her Kindle and sat on a bench. I flew through this story in about 10 minutes. Highly entertaining and an enjoyable break from shopping.

*SPOILER* The story is about a professor that stumbles upon an equation that can instantaneously transport him anywhere in the universe with a simple thought. The transportation is so easy, once one is aware of the theory, they are susceptible to transportation at the mere mention of a place i.e., the moon. The hell this guy goes through in the short story is highly worth the read and begets thoughts of, what if.... The instantaneous transport is only stopped through the development of a counter-theory and balances out the effects and thus ends a great short story.

Highly recommended for any fan of classic Sci-Fi short stories.

However, it also comes with a short bio on L. Ron Hubbard that appears to be overly complimentary. Don't expect to learn anything about the real man here other than tales of heroic exploits.

If you like sci-fi, you'll love this 1930's sci-fi adventure! It's short too, roughly 45 pages. You can finish it in a few hours. check it out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Only the appendix was Scientology propaganda, August 3, 2011

This was a great short story. It read like a Ray Bradbury novella. It ended on a perfect note.

I thought the book was a lot longer, but all the extra content was the Scientology recruitment garbage and embellished resume of L Ron.

L Ron may have been a decent writer before he found creating a religion to be more lucrative.

Loved the book, and I don't think I made any Scientology mailing lists.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Dangerous Dimension (Kindle Edition)
This is a great, clever and well-paced story.

However, the 'extra' diatribe about Mr. Hubbard feels overwhelmingly like.... someone from Scientology wrote it...... i kept waiting to see if he had invented Fire, the Wheel and PB&J. Aside from the cultish 'bio', this was fun to read.

Have you ever wanted the ability to think of a place and then be there? Well. that is what Dr. Mudge can do - only he hasn't quite mastered this ability yet so it's causing some problems for him. Very fun story. Very entertaining!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not one of his best, April 21, 2011
This review is from: The Dangerous Dimension (Kindle Edition)
First this is an excellent kindle edition as it is true to the original and contains no scanning errors also it contains copies of the original artwork which can be zoomed to view in addition there is a glossary which contains words or phrases that may not be familiar and I found myself using the links which were underlined. Also included in the book complete with photographs is a comprehensive biography of L Ron Hubbard.
The actual story is typical of the type written at the time when authors had to bash out stories in minimal time to meet editor's time scales and often paid by the word. I have now read 4 of these books and previously thought that the "Iron Duke" was the weakest however I do not think this one is as good. It is a very short story probably best described as fantasy; from the cover picture I thought it was going to be a "spaceship" type science fiction. The story centres around a professor who discovers a formula which when allows him to instantly teleport to any destination that he thinks about or is even suggested by someone else but with little control of destination and that is about it .Worth reading if only to get a flavour of this type of book.

4.0 out of 5 stars WHUP!, March 30, 2011

A fun pulp fiction story. This was the first of many that I have loaded to my Kindle. In the 40's writers made a living writing this sort of stuff. Short stories that sold for next to nothing on a news-stand and paid the author about the same. The only way that an author could make any money was to write a lot of stories. Which L. Ron Hubbard did. "Dianetics" wasn't the only thing that he wrote, it was the most publicized though.

This was my first L Ron Hubbard read and I enjoyed it for what it is. It's an easy simplistic read and if the constant hammering home of the same thing over and over doesn't bug you then enjoy!

However minus marks for the hugely fawning Bio that comes along with the story.
