More About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling, and award-winning author and creator of award-winning teddy bears who have found homes all over the world including Australia, Switzerland, China, and Russia, and a retired officer of the US Army Reserves, I love to plant trees and flowers and if I could, I'd turn all the deserts green. Time travels are my favorite read, although I love to read most anything, and the Bourne series, Romancing the Stone, Sixth Sense, Legend, The Princess Bride, Stardust, Inkheart, LOTR, and tons of other movies are my favorites.

I love to research, to make urban fantasy worlds real, to bring a little of the paranormal into our world. Even in "Winning the Highlander's Heart" the heroine feels she is cursed and she has second sight. But I try to do it in a way that feels real, and not fantasized. :) Currently, I'm working on book 2 of the new jaguar shifter series, but still am working on wolf book number 12 and 13! So more hunky wolves to come! A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing has just released.

I truly enjoyed the world of faeries that Ms. Spear created in The Dark Fae. The world building was well done, the character's strong and the story kept me coming back for more.

I really did not think that I would like this book. I was wanting to pass time and bought this on a whim. I enjoyed the story and the characters. They were fun and likable and the book was a quick and easy read. I wish there had been a bit more of a darker side to this story but overall I did enjoy it. I will read the rest in this series mainly because it is a nice change of pace when wanting a simple book to read. It is somewhat lighthearted and maybe a little predictable but that isn't always a bad thing, especially if the characters are as fun as these.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love all things Fae. Heck, I even tease my daughters, telling them that my flower bed is a secret faerie garden. When asked by Terry Spears to review The Dark Fae, I jumped at the chance, not to be disappointed. I adored that part of the story took place at South Padre Island...I am from Texas after all, plus I adore the ocean. Deveron and Alicia were fun as guides in their crazy world.

Alicia has always known she can see Fae but she has never known how deeply her sight is implanted in her. When she sees "the evil" dark fae flirting with her best friend, Alicia throws ice cold coke on him. I would have paid to see his face...especially since he is fae royalty. Deveron realizes immediately that there is something different about Alicia. Through several laugh provoking experiments, he figures out that she can see even invisible fae. It doesn't take him long to figure out she needs protection and he is the only one who can help; neither of them know exactly what they are getting themselves into.

While I definitely enjoyed this fantastical tale, I didn't find the world as intriguing as I would have liked. There was something missing that didn't pull me deep into the story.

The Dark Fae was a quick and fun story. I loved the interaction between Deveron, Alicia, and Ritasia (Deveron's sister). They were quirky, quick-witted, and exciting.

*I was given an e-book copy of The Dark Fae by Terry Spear in exchange for my honest review.

The Dark Fae
This is not a full length novel...maybe 150 pages. I read it in a day, but it was very good.

Alicia is able to see the dark fae and like the official synopsis says, she gets herself into a bind by revealing that she can see them...even when they should be invisible to her. She ends up going on quite the adventure through an entirely new world.

I loved all the different fae groups, the dark fae, the sphinx fae, the dragon fae, and more. They all have a symbol that represents their particular group and each group has key characteristics and I absolutely loved learning about them.

My only complaint is that at the end it appeared that the author was trying to wrap it up too quickly. I can't give examples because that would give away pieces of the story that are secret until later, but in the last few pages it just came together too quickly. I would however, love to read more about this world.

First of all, I was lucky enough to receive this book in a goodreads giveaway and was shocked and touched to find that Terry had not only signed my copy but wrote a personal message and attached a fae series bookmark along with my book. Thanks so much Terry!!!

Recently I have been obsessed with books dealing with fantasy and especially fae after reading Moning's Fever series and I was so excited to find this Fae series by Terry Spear. I was able to jump into her world of Fae royal houses and drama and fell in love with her couple, Alicia and Deveron. A couple that stumbled upon each other under the most unlikely circumstances but fell in love despite it all. I loved Alicia's strength after being thrown into a world of fae that wanted to kill her and I loooved the HOT method of fae travel!! If I were Alicia I wouldn't want to let go of Deveron!

I loved this short novel and couldn't put it down until I finished it!! The only disappointing part was that this story was so short! Terry Spear has gotten me hooked on the world of Fae and I can't wait to read more <3

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***Received a code from the author to listen to and review the audio version of the book. I do own this book in ebook form, but haven't read it yet (I definitely will in the future though!)

The cover is awesome and beautiful, and I think it is intriguing to grab anyone’s attention.

Listening to audiobooks is now something my son and I love to do together in the car. He even gets upset if we have to stop it for any reason, or if I forget to charge my ipod. I have collected quite a few audiobooks through the Sync program, and I have won some too, but until Terry asked me to listen and review them, I just hadn’t done it yet. Now that I have tried it, I’m addicted :)

I love how strong Alicia is, and she sticks with her friends no matter what. Deveron (no idea if I’m spelling this right) is one of the guys you start out really wanting to smack, but he grows on you like moss :) lol At the end, I love his character too. The Fae are so fickle, and they do a lot of posturing like they are ….not evil but bullies I guess.

Terry’s stories are always so enthralling when I read or listen to them :) This was my Audible review:

Would you listen to The Dark Fae again? Why?
Yes, it was fun and had lots of action :) Also my son really liked it, so it is great for car rides :)

Who was your favorite character and why?
Alicia was my favorite because she was courageous and didn't let fear dictate what she knew was right. She was fiercely loyal and protects her friends. I love strong female characters :)

What about Jeanne Whitehouse’s performance did you like?
I love how she had several voices she used. Listening to audiobooks takes some getting used to.
