Book Description

An ancient god on a destructive path of vengeance...

Imprisoned by the Archangel Lucifer ages ago, the Dark God Summit wants nothing less than equivalent retribution. After breaking free and retaining some splintered shards of his sanity, Summit set out to confront Lucifer. The Archangel is nowhere to be found. He has, however, left behind his coveted mortal bride. Summit storms into Hell to capture Lucifer's one and only weakness, but inadvertently, he abducts the wrong girl.

Now Summit must deal with a fiery young mortal named Amara and keep his sanity in check. As the mortal tears at both his patience and sanity, romance unexpectedly develops and interferes with his scheme.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book June 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read The Dark God's Bride (Book 1) in one day. Once I began, I just had to keep going. Overall, this book was very enjoyable and flowed nicely. The writing was descriptive and brought out emotion. I could picture the scenes as they happened. Amara, the heroine of the story, is the daughter of Kali the bride of Lucifer. Amara is determined to protect her mother from a mythical god bent on revenge. She ends up in different situations and takes you along for the ride.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the trilogy. Although I've never heard of Dahlia Lu, I'm sure glad I stumbled across her work. This book is listed as the first in the Dark God's Bride trilogy. At first I thought it was the second because there is another story (Princess of the Damned) featuring Nala. Nala is in this book as well so I thought it was a continuation, but it isn't.

The Dark God's Bride was a good story and I recommend it to others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has great possibility but needs better editing May 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Because I love the concept of this story and I found the characters charming and often humorous, I gave this a three star rating instead of the two star I was almost compelled to give it. The short book description accurately describes the plot of the book and also gives a good indication of how much this book suffers from poor editing. The numerous grammatical errors, poor word choices and confusing way the verb tense switches from past to future to present were too distracting for me. It was like reading a bad translation of a foreign book to the english language. The mistakes were almost on every page and I found myself editing sentences more than just reading them. I finally gave up half way through it because I got a headache and really, reading a book shouldn't be so much work! I skipped to the end and it looks like the story is set up for a second book.

It's a good thing this was a free download or I would have demanded my money back from Amazon. I really hope the author gets a good, professional editor before publishing the next book because a great concept with promising characters is going to waste. I would gladly pay for this story and any other in this series if it was better edited.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Potential June 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The plot was excellent; but the grammar was sorely lacking. It was distracting, trying to weed through the errors as I was reading. Altogether, worth reading if you aren't too much of a stickler about grammar and spelling.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like it...but... May 25, 2012
By Robbie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was a mess that never got cleaned up. The main story was underdeveloped and a bunch of other side stories are thrown in that simply clutter it up. There isn't a single character that I know enough about (or care about) after reading the book. I wanted to finish it just so I could find out what happened and hope I didn't waste all that time. It was a waste of time, alright. The book simply ends with no resolution to anything. I will NOT be reading the sequel.

Everyone complained about the lack of editing and abundance of typos. There were a few, but I think the very casual, conversational tone of the book is easily mistaken as grammatical errors.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS MUST HAVE READ January 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was not expecting this from a book by an author I had not read prior. I chose to give it a shot due to no cost to me, however, after reading the book, I would gladly pay a more hefty fee. The story line, characters, and solid direction of the series would be well worth the price. The author chooses passion, humor, fear, and destiny to pull together an excellent read. Book 2 is just as promising.

5.0 out of 5 stars Starts slow then picks up... September 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book starts slow then picks up and doesn't let you go...

This is the story of a human woman, raised among demons, who meets a mad god, that wants nothing more than to kill her stepfather, and the events that follow.

There isn't a giant complicated plot in this book. Most of the draw of it comes from the characterizations of the main players, and even the supporting cast. The fun of it comes from the point of view observations of both characters. You feel their confusion, their change of emotion, their lust.

The writer did an amazing job with the voices in the book, as well as the mysterious backstory.

Sadly, it doesn't finish in this volume. We never quite learn the truth behind all the events that are happening, nor do we read about how all the intertwined stories end. That being said, in spite of the cliffhanger ending, I wasn't left unsatisfied. In the end I did want more, but not to the point that I felt cheated.

This book is worth it's price and definitely something I would recommend to supernatural romance story readers.

My only criticism is how slow it starts. In order to get anywhere good you have to wade through about 2 chapters worth of backstory that you learn about again anyway through the course of the book. Once the female protagonist shows up in the scene though, get ready for a fun ride.

Oh, and just remember, this isn't Virginia Wolf or Shakespeare or anything. This is a fun SEXY read meant to be enjoyed in that way.

5 stars. Get through the first chapters and you'll find that it's worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! February 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved it!!! When I read the first 2 or 3 pages, it didn't draw me i, but then I read the synopsis telling me what the book was about, & I just had to keep reading since it sounded fascinating. Around the 5th page or so when I saw Amara's personality, I completely fell in love with her. I constantly laughed throughout this whole book! The lot, setting, everything is great. It is a great world to dive into! There were a few written errors but not much at all. I can count on one hand how many errors really distracted me. I say this book is well written & a great adventure. I read this book in one day; I just couldn't put it down! Highly recommended if you like love, tenderness, fun, adventures, & lots of humor all packed in one book!
