Very funny read! These stories are when human stupidity surfaces to disastrous effects. A lesson here, yes, think about what your doing. My father once told me "Look before you leap". This book could save lives! Very much enjoyed this, Ms. Northcutt's humor is unparalleled.

In this sixth edition of the Darwin Awards collection, there are some very entertaining stories and some rather flat stories. While I was hoping for a stronger collection, I am satisfied overall.

In this collection, there is one particular tale involving an air pressure hose that certainly measures up to the stupidity of the earlier books. My preference is to read about the appalling stupid ways people have died, and this tale fits that description. Even if it is an unconfirmed report, it is still the most entertaining entry. Though stories of where men had certain parts stuck may become redundant, it certainly reveals the lengths a man will go.

When I think the Darwin Awards are running out of steam, they find more entertaining mishaps. The addition of Double Darwin Awards is somewhat lame, particularly when a person already chooses a life of abstinence. Overall, the series continues to be entertaining.

This latest installment in the series does not disappoint... lots of VERY bad decisions and ideas in motion. Never fly a plane before? That's OK, with enough alcohol in your system and a friend who knows how to break into the local airport you too can be the Red Baron (just don'r ask too many questions about what actually happened to the hun). People making a fuss about that downed powerline in your neighborhood? A chain saw and some saran-wrap booties will fix that! Want to save on light bulbs? Unscrew your headlight bulbs until you just get a dim glow... they'll last forever (or at least as long as the car lasts). An easy read and well-illustrated.

This book, just as its predecessors, was phenomenally funny. This edition finds space for even more pictures, also hilarious. I always find it hard to believe that there are such people out there. That they can be the subject of books, is what Northcutt does best. This is a fast, funny, read. The book can be picked up at stoplights, read within an hour in an easy chair, or kept at the office for those times when you could use a good laugh. As always, I can't wait until the next edition!

I read the first couple of books many years ago and really enjoyed them - but I was a little disappointed with this one. There was a lot of what I call "filler" - information inserted that in my mind didn't need to be there - I would have enjoyed more actual "Darwin" accounts. But still, a good read - particularly if you have an offbeat sense of humor.

While not the best of the series. I loved the stories in the collection. My wife usually does not read them. She loved the FAQ at the back and got her to actually check the book out.

I think the author is capitulating to family members who don't want their dearly beloved to be published in Darwin Awards, and so I appears to me that she consequently is running out of present day stories. As for me, I want all who qualify to be published, and lets learn from their mistakes, and be reminded to think before we act? But its a good read. And Wendy tells of her own accident that gets her a mention in the book. I'm glad I bought it. I recommend it. But if you are new to the Darwin Awards I would recommend you start with the authors first book, "The Darwin Awards: Evolution in Action" ... I think its the best, and will make you a fan.

Fun little book with interesting ways in which people have removed themselves from the gene pool through brazenness, folly, sheer stupidity, etc. To paraphrase 80s wrestler Brett "the Hitman" Hart, this book does not really have that "excellence of execution" writing-wise. The prose is journalistic and bland. The story interest/details carry the day here though. Come away feeling like the human race can't get any dumber. Similar books include Stupid Criminals: Hilarious and True Crime Stories and The Man Who Scared a Shark to Death and Other True Tales of Drunken Debauchery
