About the Author

Bill Staley, a landscape architect and life long artist, grew up with a passion for great food and creating things with his hands. Drawing upon a decade of experience in graphic design, photography, and various other artistic pursuits, Bill flexes his creativity in the kitchen behind the camera lens. Following their popular debut title, Make it Paleo, Bill and Hayley have blazed a unique trail for themselves in the cooking world. What started as a casual blogging hobby quickly grew into a bustling website, followed by a cookbook, and now has grown to an interactive website with a meal planner, customized user-created shopping lists, and even a companion app for smart phones.

Hayley Mason, a high definition makeup artist trained in Hollywood, never thought she would be applying her styling talents to grass fed beef and grain free desserts rather than the eyes and cheek bones of movie stars. Hayley was quick to become one of the most acclaimed culinary forces driving the grain free cooking movement. Her practical, efficient and methodical cooking style shows that delicious grain free eating can be easily attained by anyone and leave you feeling as if nothing is missing from your plate. Her holistic approach to health, wellness and nutrition is a common thread that weaves its way through every recipe she creates.

It seems that almost daily a new Paleo Book comes out on the market. Whether it is printed, an ebook, or kindle they are popping up all over the place. Through the sea of resources, the truly passionate, dedicated, and selfless authors create much bigger waves that travel further. As that last sentence resonates in your brain, it is important to understand that those waves are bigger and last longer because that are packed full of QUALITY INFORMATION.

Hayley and Bill have been in this Paleo book movement since the beginning and built a solid foundation with their best seller Make it Paleo: Over 200 Grain Free Recipes For Any Occasion and soon to be best seller Gather, the Art of Paleo Entertaining. This amazing new book has done nothing less than fortified their already bulletproof base. The passion, sweat, and tears that went into this invaluable resource is evident with every page turn. This book on it's own has the power to change the world and make it a healthier place. Couple that with their earlier referenced Cookbooks that deserve to be in an art show and you have a insurmountable number of recipes to conquer. Something in the ballpark of 400 simple yet elegant recipes that once started will create an unstoppable snowball that is rolling towards a healthier you in all aspects of life.

This book is broken down into 3 parts so you don't have to read cover to cover, you can use this as your health transformation bible.

Part 1: This covers the basics of the Paleo diet. Everything you need to know to attack this full on with confidence.

Just received my copy today. I have all three of their books. Make it Paleo: Over 200 Grain Free Recipes For Any Occasion and Gather, the Art of Paleo Entertaining

This book is a great addition to the series. Very easy to follow, amazing pictures that make your mouth water and simple easy to follow recipes.

The book is broken into three parts.

Part I - What is Paleo, is a great overview about Paleo. It answers all the main questions about what you can and shouldn't eat. It pretty much covers everything any beginner or long time Paleo eater needs to know.

Part II - Is the 30 day meal plan. It is very easy to follow, they give you a shopping list and a meal plan for each week of your thirty days. It is well planned out and super easy to follow. They don't use hard to find items or crazy grocery stores. Most markets will carry these items from my experience.

Part III - This is where it gets great. Each meal is described with easy to follow recipes accompanied by the most amazing food photography I have ever seen. What is so great is that they are easy to follow, I can make the dinners and not worry about having all the stuff or pans I may need.

This book has encouraged me to do another 30 day challenge. I consider myself approx 80/20 Paleo eating. But Bill and Hayley have encouraged me to get back to 100% Paleo.

I am an avid Crossfitter, I have encouraged my wife to eat clean and we also have our 16 month old child eating clean. No artificial puffs or sugars.

I highly suggest this this book to anyone interested in learning more about Paleo and giving it a try. You will not be disappointed and you will feel the difference in your body.

There are so many awesome things about going Paleo. Weight loss, consistent energy, better skin, a relative sense of superiority to the common eaters. But it certainly requires a significant investment of your time for learning and cooking compared to what you had been spending on eating . This inevitably leads to the routine of grilled chicken and steamed broccoli diet. Which isn't really paleo. Enter "the 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking" by Hayley Mason and Bill Staley.
Bill and Hayley answer all of your FAQs about how to get started on eating Paleo, from shopping, to recipes, to how to make the best use of your leftovers in their 30 day meal plans. Everyday we get asked , "How do I get started? Is this Paleo? What do I do for breakfast?" With their new book, Hayley and Bill have answered those questions and more. You'd be hard pressed to find a more succinct and useful guide to getting yourself started towards a lifetime of good health through damn good eating.

I really hate to speak negatively about a person's book but I think you should look elsewhere for help with Paleo cooking. This book is designed such that you use a weekly shopping list (4 total) and then prepare all your meals from a plan. If you don't care about the plan/shopping list aspect then my review does not apply to you particularity if you like cookbooks with great pictures (although you should look to the author's other book probably). In a nut shell this book has plenty of editing errors (examples below) and you really need to just put in the work to find appealing recipes and make your own shopping list. With this book you will go shopping and then not want to eat some percentage of what's planned. I was hoping for a plan so I didn't have to think (busy with work, small kids, keeping the house from falling down, exercise...) but ultimately I was trying to force myself into eating ground lamb and asparagus for breakfast after eating a salad the night before that didn't appeal. When you are making a major diet change, eating a couple meals in a row that don't suit your particular taste is rather demoralizing. If you pick out meals that sound appetizing to you (and this book has some good recipes no doubt) then you have a greater chance of being successful.

1. Shopping list week 1 does not reconcile with week 1 meals
-list indicates 4 lbs ground pork, but recipes call for 4.5 lbs.
-list indicates one yellow squash but recipes call for 2

2. Recipes can be cryptic. Skillet chicken leg quarters step 1 asks you to preheat the oven, but then you don't use the oven!

3. Words spelled correctly but completely out of context in sentence.
