About the Author

Les first began writing sports articles for several magazines about five years ago. Being a self confessed movie nut writing a book about Hollywood seemed to be a natural fit. Hollywood's Unhappiest Endings: Legends Never Die is his first book. Les lives with his son Tristan and divides his time between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Las Vegas, Nevada. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

This book is pretty interesting as far as it goes. It covers a lot of people, from the very famous to the relatively obscure. The author seems to have been diligent in separating fact from rumor and hearsay. However, the writing style feels to me like a series of news briefs. There's not a whole lot of depth to any of the stories, just the basic facts, which makes it a quick read. I was going to give it three stars, but I decided to give it four for the effort to avoid sensationalism and the quantity of people covered.

It's also worth noting that in my Kindle version, the editing leaves a LOT to be desired - sentences and whole paragraphs are duplicated throughout the book and I don't think that is the author's fault. If it was published like that in hardcover, someone should have been fired!

It's always amazing to me just how many of rock's singers and musicians have self-destructed. The average fan thinks that they "have it all together," and nothing could be farther from the truth. les writes about those who died of "natural causes" too, but so many fought the battle of misplaced fame, booze and chemicals. This book opens a window into it all.

I don't know who does the editing but there are so many mistakes, typos, and repeated paragraphs is was hard to read. The info was good and accurate so you get 2 stars for that. It seems that the books for the kindle are not proofed for even the most obvious mistakes.

A great look through time at the well-knowns and the lesser-knowns of Rock and Roll over the years. The terribly sad common thread is the drugs and hard lifestyles that took SO MANY of these musicians. Such a waste.

This book? Reads choppy and the editing was extremely poor. It`s almost as if the information was culled from the web and spliced roughly together. Numerous omissions are noted.

I grew up in the era of a lot of these people, so this book really hit home. A very good book.

While the writing in this book isn't spectacular, the great information within makes it a keeper.

So many musicians self-destructed with alcohol and drugs, it was almost a relief to read that someone died from accident or disease. I want to thank the author for reviving my interest in Queen and Freddie Mercury who shared with us some of the best music ever made.

I felt the book was incomplete without Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Jim Reeves, Keith Whitley, and other country greats who left us too soon.

I would have given this book a higher rating because the information it gave was excellent. However the actual book has sections which which were repeated by bad editing or printing of the book. I kept thinking as I was reading that I had read this on the previous pages and then I realised I had because the pages were duplicated.
