First off, why are copies of this book going for $350? Is it a collector's item now?

Anyway, this book on the 1972 Russia / Canada hockey series is well-researched, but author Morrison's writing style is perhaps more suited to journalism than full length books. It is still easy to read, but there were a handful of typos or word repetitions that shouldn't have made it to the final printing.

Morrison does a very good job of interviewing members of the Canadian team, the executives of that team, and North American journalists. But I would have been interested in a bit more insight from Russian players (Tretiak is rarely if ever quoted) and perhaps the referees of some of the more controversial games.

Morrison also does a good job of organizing the book. Everything is in pretty much the ideal order to keep sense chronologically and heighten the drama. I walked away having learned quite a bit but I was also left with questions that I would have tried to answer if writing an authoritative book on the subject.
