Classic Deadlands has a flavor all of its own that no other RPG, even the d20 version, has been able to replicate. In Deadlands the goal isn't combat, far from it. Getting into fights is the last resort and entire game ensures that you will be reluctant to enter a fight unless absolutely necessary because of how dangerous they are. A classic rule in deadlands is that a random gang member with a rifle on-top of a water tower is just as dangerous as a the walking dead, and trust me it's true.
