About the Author

Mark Waid, Alabama native and current Los Angeles resident, has written stories for every major comic book publisher, and his seminal graphic novel, KINGDOM COME, for DC Comics, is one of the best-selling graphic novels of all time. For BOOM! Studios, he has written bestselling graphic novels POTTER’S FIELD, INCORRUPTIBLE and the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated IRREDEEMABLE. Peter Krause is an American comic book artist. He is best known for his work on various DC Comics titles, most notably the Superman-related titles and THE POWER OF SHAZAM! with Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family. Krause, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, currently works as a freelance illustrator in Minnesota.

More About the Author

Mark Waid, a New York Times bestselling author, has written a wider variety of well-known comics characters than any other American comics author, from Superman to the Justice League to Spider-Man to Archie and hundreds of others. His award-winning graphic novel with artist Alex Ross, KINGDOM COME, is one of the best-selling comics collections of all time. (Secretly, however, he prefers SUPERMAN: BIRTHRIGHT and his IRREDEEMABLE collections as his favorite works he's produced.)

With over twenty years of experience in his field, Waid maintains a blog at www.markwaid.com that is full of advice for beginning writers and experienced authors both.

This is an absolutely stunning edition. Strong sewn binding means the volume opens flat to every page. The pages are huge - the same size as the DC Absolute series volumes, and of very strong thick good quality paper. The volume includes the first 12 volumes of the Irredeemable series and also the Hornet, Kaidan and Max Damage specials. A cover gallery is included at the end of the book, as well as epilogue by Mark Waid and afterword by Grant Morrison. The volume itself is protected by a very thick slip case.

Regarding the content itself, I would suggest you read the many reviews of the various other editions of Irredeemable. Mark Waid builds a very dark picture of what happens to a world in which the most powerful superhero goes rogue and begins a genocidal campaign of terror, beginning with elimination of his closest allies. It examines in detail the reasons that caused the fall of him whom everyone trusted, and the small role each and every person had to play along the way. This is a fantastic story not to be missed, and if you dont mind spending a little bit extra than the paperbacks then this edition is an absolute must buy for your collection.

This was one of the better hardcovers I have ever purchased, and I have a LOT of them. This edition is similar to the DC "Absolute" versions. The slipcase has very nice art on it, the book is huge, the artwork looks beautiful on the high high grade paper, and the ribbon place keeper is a nice bonus. The story is addictive and I am aching to buy volume 2 as soon as they release it! This is a format that you cannot go wrong with. And Amazon's price was very very fair compared to many other prices I have seen this go for. Good stuff all around!

Irredeemable is written by Mark Waid and it deals with the unthinkable. What happens when a hero, who wants nothing but to be loved by everyone, gets paranoid and turns from the good to the evil. The Plutonian is the most powerful superhero on the planet and has done good deeds for all his life.
But he was adopted and his parents never stopped fearing him. Whispers followed him wherever he went, and because of his super-hearing, he heard them. The Plutonion, after years of being aware of the worst in humanity, finally goes berserk.
With a wonderful take on a hero insane, and beautiful art, blown to super-size, by Peter Krause and Diego Barreto, this 11 issue volume is a must have for people who enjoyed Miracleman. The Plutonion is not merely evil, he is tortured by the concepts he develops in his own mind. Mark Waid, who loves Superman, brings a superhero to life who turns away from good because he can't accept that people always fear those who excell and are alien to them. A story that will sear your consciousness!
