Amazon.com Review

This is the third installment of Salvatore's Demon trilogy that starts with The Demon Awakens and The Demon Spirit.

Once again the demon dactyl of Corona seems defeated. Ranger Elbryan Wyndon goes north to protect the new settlers from goblins and powries, but his beloved Jilseponie returns to Palmaris. There Father Abbot Markwart is consolidating his power over Church and State with the aid of gemstone magic and the demon's power. Pony's determination to stop the evil abbots puts her and Elbryan in deadly peril, for even the king has been turned against them.

From Publishers Weekly

This extension (after The Demon Spirit) of the adventures of ranger Elbryan and his lover, Pony, may be Salvatore's strongest fantasy to date. Aided by his friends, the elf Juraviel and the sly centaur Bradwarden, Elbryan fights valiantly for the freedom of the northern lands of Honce-the-BearAfreedom from the schemes of the Abellican Church, the evil Dwarves and the royal authority of King Danube Brock Ursal. Meanwhile, Pony, who is carrying Elbryan's child, heads back south to Palmaris, which has come under the authority of the sinister sorcerer Bishop Marcalo De'Unnero. Pony is determined to avenge the death of her adoptive parentsAeven if doing so means risking her life, and her child's. Salvatore's potent mixture of detailed historical context, well-rounded characters (including secondary figures torn by conflicted loyalties to their church and state), brisk pacing and exciting battle scenes make for a consuming read. 5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Drizzt?, September 14, 2001
I found this book awe inspiring, for any true fan of Salvatore's this is a must read and if you are just a fantasy fan you can't go far wrong with this master piece. The book folows many twists and turns from hope to dispair and back again taking the reader along for the ride. The book lacks nothing and wets your appetite for the next adventure. Salvatore has shown us that he still has the ability to write a great adventure after doubts sprung from the continuation of the legendary Drizzt saga which is beginning to spiral out of control. The book follows a well structured path which leaves the reader spending countless hours turning page after page with no realisation of time. I would recommend this book to anyone and would challenge the opinion of anyone who doubted its originality.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent conclusion, January 25, 2000

Christian Olmstead (Kansas City, Missouri) - See all my reviews
The Demon Apostle is one of the few books that went beyond what I expected it to be. Salvatore is an excellent author and has always excelled at writing about action and the way a character thinks, and The Demon Apostle is no exception. With the conclusion to the Demon War trilogy, I believe he has written a brilliant conclusion to a series that is as unpredictable as it is exciting. This is without a doubt the best in the series, and I would recommend it to every fan of fantasy.

4.0 out of 5 stars END IT!, July 5, 1999

While I tremendously enjoyed the premise of the Demon Wars trilogy, I wish RA Salvatore had ended it. I knew I was in trouble when I neared the end.

Leaving the ending so obviously unconcluded was a big let down. I wonder when the next trilogy will start? And more importantly, when will it end?

I shall eat enough to sustain life and never descend to gluttony, and always shall I remember to appreciate the animal, or plant, that provided me with food. I shall hold nature in a place of godliness and stand humbly beneath her, remembering always that she could destroy me in the flicker of an instant. I shall tolerate weaknesses in others, for in them, I see my own. And I shall raise my sword or bow in defense only, never for personal gain. "e;
