Book Description

When the Godseeker assassin Creed investigates stories of children gone missing, the trail leads him to an isolated ranch that is rumored to be involved in the slave trade. The owner of the ranch orders the enslaved Nieve to find any weakness in Creed that can be used against him to stop his investigation.

But Creed's secrets are buried deep.  Or so he believes.

Nieve, who knows the intensity of an immortal's allure firsthand, recognizes the demon in Creed at once. Fun-loving and irresistible to most women, Creed tries to keep his identity hidden, ease her fears and get to the truth the best way he knows how. Seduction.

But Nieve has her own secret—a demon who once tricked her and their half demon son who was sold into slavery.

In a race against the clock, she'll do whatever it takes to get her child back, even if it means putting her trust in Creed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait to Read More June 10, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is book 3 in the Demon Outlaws series, but don't let that concern you too much. You can pretty much jump right in and not be too lost. This series is set in the future (not entirely sure how far into the future, but at least a couple of centuries, though it's lower tech than the modern world thanks to demon attacks) on Earth, though not the Earth as we know it, again thanks to the aforementioned demons.

The demons were just banished recently, but they left behind their offspring and can still interact in various ways. Nieve is the mother of such a child and the demon who fathered said child wants her back. Creed is (essentially) a gunslinger, though he works for the Godseekers (hiding the fact that he too is half demon) who are trying to eradicate half-demons from the world.

Sounds complicated? It is, but falling into the world is just part of the wonderful charm of this book. I felt completely absorbed into the futuristic/fantasy aspects of this book and I liked the interplay between Nieve and Creed. It wasn't a rushed romance, or a forced one, in any way. It was enjoyable hearing references to our current world (Safeway, the grocery store, is specifically mentioned) and seeing how the world might reshape itself in the face of centuries of demon-rule.

There were references and events involving (I assume) characters from the first two books and their continuing stories. Even without knowing those stories, I was able to accept and understand everything.

So - since I obviously loved this book, why not 5 gargoyles? Simply because of the Nieve/child issue. I do not believe it was ever explained just how/why Nieve forgot. her. child. for a year!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Demon Creed Review May 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The Final book in the Demon Outlaws series is a thrilling romance that keeps readers on the edge of their seat. While tracking half-demons, Creed discovers that numerous innocent children are being kidnapped in the mountains. Nieve will do anything to find her missing son, including trusting the half-demon Creed. Creed and Nieve must race against the clock to save the children, their hearts and the world.

The steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps the adrenaline pumping with suspense, action, drama and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written events and scenes which inspire vivid images that capture the imagination. Spine tingling tension builds throughout the story as the danger escalates and reader follows Nieve and Creed on their quest to find the missing children and the strong compelling character are easily related to and draw the reader deeper into the story.

The attraction between Creed and Nieve burns hot from the very beginning and the sex scenes are hot and heavy, but the chemistry between them is not enough when Nieve doesn’t trust demons and Creed is determined to protect the world and the reader can’t help but get caught up in their story as the drama unfolds throughout the story along with all the intrigue and suspense. The demon father of Nieve’s son is also trying to get her back which adds spice and danger to the story.

The author has created a fantastic world of demons with a western tone to the fantasy that makes for interesting and captivating stories and characters. Each story in the series is an exciting and enjoyable read that keeps readers guessing with lots of surprising twists and this one was no exception. I was totally engrossed in the book from the beginning and couldn’t put it down until I had read the very last word.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm addicted~ May 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
i'm not sure i've read anything like this book (and i've read a lot) but i really enjoyed it!
once again i came in at the end of a series yet i was able to follow the premise. The characters were wonderful! Creed is half demon yet has a heart the size of Texas. His morales and goals will have you falling deeply in love with him. Nieve seems beaten down and fragile but Creed learns her sweet innocent shells is just part of who she is and it makes him and his demon crave her even more.

4.0 out of 5 stars My favorite couple of the trilogy! May 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
In the conclusion of Altenburg's Demon Outlaws series we finally get to dig deep into Creed. He's been a bit of an enigmatic figure up to this point and I know I wasn't the only reader really excited to see what was under his layers. When his path crosses with Nieve the pair seem completely unlikely to wind up together. She's been a slave to a man who has ties to the slave trade, the man who sold her half demon son. Nieve has had enough experience with demons to distrust and recognize Creed for what he is but when their paths lead them on the path to finding her son the pair begin to warm to each other.

While THE DEMON CREED is the final novel in the Demon Outlaws trilogy and it does focus on tying up the world's overall story I'll admit that part of the story didn't draw me in much which was unexpected. I was kind of rushing to get through it because the romance between Nieve and Creed was so good. I liked that she seemed timid and weak but that she had a unique strength, one I personally found very relatable. Creed was a great match for her and I loved seeing him in action.

I don't want to give away the plot revolving around Nieve's son but if you've been reading the series I think you are going to be really satisfied with that part of the story. I was so thrilled with it I got all misty eyed. Hunter and Airie are back for part of the story as well and make a great contrast to Creed and Nieve.

I'm hesitant to suggest a reader pick this one up without having already read the rest of the series but there's a certain stand-alone quality to it that I think almost makes it good to read first and go back to the rest later. I guess that depends on you as a reader, if you've ever tried a late entry in a series and loved it enough to go back it might be worth a try.

Notes: ARC received via publisher.
