5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for those with a genuine interest in the science behind GW, but not worth the expense if you already read it, May 13, 2010

First a warning is in order. Amazon's description of this 2010 revised edition (paperback) is not accurate, as actually this edition just has one new chapter (regarding global warming affirmers), not two as announced (the seal in the cover correctly states that there is only one new chapter).

This new chapter (actually is kind of author's postscript) is short and Solomon deals quite harshly with the recent developments regarding Climategate and the recently discovered IPPC blunders in its 2007 Report. Each subject is analyzed briefly and in a very sarcastic way. For those who already read the original edition it is not worthy to expend $12 for almost the same content. If interested in Climagate, there is quite a crop of 2010 books dealing with this affair. I do recommend Climategate: The Crutape Letters (Volume 1), quite an honest and forensic analysis of the controversial e-mails, with plenty of background to understand the context.

Back to The Deniers, see my full review of the 2008 edition here (The Deniers: The World Renowned Scientists Who Stood Up Against Global Warming Hysteria, Political Persecution, and Fraud**And those who are too fearful to do so). In summary, I do not agree with all the criticism raised by Solomon, but he did manage to raise several valid and key issues. Chapter 8 presents criticism by Freeman Dyson and Antonino Zichichi, questioning the confidence and validity of climate simulation forecasts, particularly regarding the use of parametrization or "fudge factors". Also look for Hendrik Tennekes arguments regarding the lack of falsifiability from Popper's philosophical point of view.

5.0 out of 5 stars A straight up look at the facts, August 13, 2010
This review is from: The Deniers, Fully Revised: The World-Renowned Scientists Who Stood Up Against Global Warming Hysteria, Political Persecution and Fraud (Paperback)
Thank you Lawrence Solomon for writing this book. The data is shown for all to see. The hockey stick graph IPCC and Gore tried to pass is debunked. This book and Chris Horner's book need to read by all those that blindly accept the rhetoric from the IPCC on global warming.

Net, this is the type of book that should be written on a topic like Global Warming. It rightly opens the science (on both sides) to scrutiny and critical thought, while allowing that anthropogenic climate warming is still a possibility -- albeit, maybe of a far smaller scale than Al Gore would have you think.

The chief asset of this book is in warning about the danger of politicizing science-- especially when funding and government centralization are key to the effort.

Very comprehensive book that also debunks the myth of consensus.
It gives a clear insight in what really goes on in the world of climate scepticism

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Gallery of Skeptical Scientists, November 4, 2010
This review is from: The Deniers, Fully Revised: The World-Renowned Scientists Who Stood Up Against Global Warming Hysteria, Political Persecution and Fraud (Paperback)
This book describes an amazing collection of top-notch scientists and mathematicians who have all cast serious doubt on the man-made global warming thesis and have often been castigated or punished as a result. It proves beyond doubt that the contention that there is some kind of scientific "consensus" about climate change is simply a lie and a blatant attempt to suppress reasonable dissent. Solomon, the writer, introduces all of them well and explains in simple terms their ideas. Remarkably, the writer himself is an environmentalist. That for me was the only flaw in the book, but it does lend him a certain credibility that others might not have (being from within the camp of the eco-crusaders, I mean).

4.0 out of 5 stars The cases put by the "Deniers" are pretty reasonable and clearly put, July 15, 2014

I found this book extremely interesting. The cases put by the "Deniers" are pretty reasonable and clearly put. However the jury is still out on this one. We may have to wait another 100 years before we can actually say they are right or wrong, and by then it may be too late for Planet Earth. However, let's not throw away the baby with the bathwater.
