I've been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. I've set goals, had "words of the year", used daily planners and every other tool under the sun to get done what needed to get done. The only problem... 90% of the time I dreaded all of it. I know, in my heart of hearts that my true nature is to feel good. I want to feel good!!

When I saw this book and read the description, tears came to my eyes. I knew I had found exactly what I'd been looking for all these years. When I opened the book it was perfect. It is ascetically pleasing. The messages you really need to hear are in bold or great.big.huge font...which I loved.

The concepts are explained in a loving and supportive way, a way that I could actually hear. When it comes to doing the workbook part of the book I felt like I was diving into my soul.

After much searching, and definition hunting I found the words that sang to me. I found my 5 desired feeling words. In finding those words, and then turning them loose on my life I immediately saw WHY things were feeling a little bit "off" in certain areas. I was pushing and doing and forcing things that were completely contrary to how I wanted to feel. My soul had been telling me... (I wasn't feeling good in those areas)... but I just wasn't listening.

If you're ready to put feeling good first (and still make a lot of money, do a lot of things, live the life of your dreams... and feel really good while you're doing it) this book is a MUST. You will find your world turned upside down, in the most wonderful way, and you'll wonder how you lived any differently. :) I can't wait to see what happens to make me feel the way I want to feel this year! 2014 is going to be a magical year, this much I know.

I purchased this book from Danielle LaPorte early in 2013 after seeing her in an interview. I was intrigued by the idea of creating a life and career around core desired feelings vs. the usual goal setting I've done in the past. So I sat down one weekend and read the whole book…easy, quick, casual read. I then jumped into the workbook portion, which was not an easy exercise for me because Danielle's questions were thought provoking, but eventually was able to whittle myself down to my core desired feelings. I set my yearly intentions. I also created my monthly check-in and have been doing the "This Week" sort of "to do list" toward those core desired feelings for almost a year now.

For me, I can easily say that it has clarified what I want out of life. No longer do I accept tasks/situations (work, volunteer, personal) that aren't aligned with my core desired feelings. This is not a cavalier way of being, but instead I truly know if something aligns with me before saying "yes" and no longer regret my choices when being a good employee or volunteer or daughter-in-law. My career has taken a HUGE turn for the better. My family life has become balanced in a way I never could have imagined and I am so much happier. I know this may not be for everyone, but if you want to be aligned with how you want to feel in life, this is the way to go.

I loved The Desire Map. I've always looked at goals as yearly things to do on New Year's Eve, some small ones throughout the year. But I never really accomplished most of them. Thinking that my life could be crafted by how I want to feel, and not just when I accomplish a goal, but ALL THE TIME, was a big WOW for me. I'm really working on crafting my daily life now so I can enjoy each day, while working towards my goals. It's helped me to focus and also to enjoy the ride.
The book is easy to read, hard to put down and gets you excited to FEEL and LIVE the WAY YOU WANT!
I found the workbook to be very helpful and challenge me to really think about what I want.

I would greatly agree with another comment that Miss Laporte has friends in high places. First, the font on the pages is so small even with 20/20 vision it is hard to read, and then other pages have huge font that take up two pages. A lot of this was in her first book and quoting other people. Although I get the point she was trying to address books like this have been done better with correct readable font and with more substantial content. There is nothing special about this book and at best I felt it was telling me goals were not worthy or important because the author had such a hard time with them herself. We started as one of her book club groups and quickly dismantled due to content and it being hard to read.

Danielle LaPorte has made a living talking and creating books. ("Look what I made for you.") She originally offered The Desire Map as an all-inclusive program, with videos and a playlist from YouTube (!!!!) The whole shebang cost $177 and I stupidly paid for it. It's a workbook, with gradient colors.

I'm glad she's offering this book on its own for a lot less, but it still isn't worth it. It's a fill in the blank thing. "Goals with soul." Soul is an outdone meme.

And just fyi, she has repurposed the Desire Map to make even more money. Good for her, but there are no concrete promises given. Touchy feely etc.

Buy it if you want, but think for yourself.
