The writing and style is extremely enjoyable and the characters very well developed.
This is the fifth novel I've read by David Liss, and I'd definitely say that his Benjamin Weaver books are much stronger than his stand-alone book, The Whiskey Rebels.
Often times I peg the plot in a book like this quite a while before the ending, but this book kept me guessing right up to the end.
