I'm not a civil war buff, nor am I a blues fan, but I loved this book! I have read Coonce's other works and decided to give this a try - I was not disappointed!
Coonce's wit and storytelling ability seamlessly weave the lives of two epic war figures in a surreal tale of parallel universes, nearly a century apart, linked by an enigmatic character with first-hand knowledge of the past and clairvoyant sight into the future.
This book is esoteric enough to satisfy the hardcore history buffs, but won't scare off the armchair types like myself. It will appeal equally to civil war nuts, Hitler-haters, Rommel-wannabes, rednecks, liberal do-gooders, one-eyed harp-huffers, those that feel the war ain't over, and those that shake their head about them folks that think that way.
Non-fiction, based on historical details....hey man, that stuff could've happened!
