More About the Author

Leila has been an avid reader since the fifth grade. As she got older she read everything she could get her hands on, from horror, to mystery and finally landing in romance.

While in college studying computer programming and electrical engineering, she realized what she wanted to do when she grew up. She wanted to write those stories that entertained her through more nights than she could remember. Of course her first attempts were less than remarkable and have been destroyed to protect the innocent. :)

Leila currently lives in Alaska with her husband, two young sons and dog. She writes in between taking care of her family and making fused and torched glass jewelry.

This was my first story by Ms. Brown and It was really good. I loved the hero, he was Alpha in a good way. The ending almost got dicey with a racy exhibition scene but this is erotica and both parties were in agreement so I can't say to much on that. It's worth reading.

PLOT: Alycia is a vet. She's kidnapped by Barrick - her soulmate from another dimension. Barrick is a shifter. He's covered in fur and has stripes.

PROS: Good original ideas are presented here. The plot moves fast and smooth. Alycia and Barrick are likeable characters. You'll find yourself rooting for them to get together.

CONS: Some more detail in some areas was needed. Like how the mist that managed to let Barrick cross dimensions worked. Or how they spoke the same language. Some more detail about Barrick's appearance would have been appreciated, also. Does he have a tail, pointy ears, etc.?

The end felt a little rushed. Suddenly we're supposed to believe that Alycia loves Barrick after they've known each other for a very short period of time.

The public sex scene just didn't make any sense. She didn't even object though she'd objected to being made to wear a skimpy outfit prior to this.

4 STARS: Very good story and likeable characters. I just wish there were more of it. Given a longer story, I think the author could have cleared up some of the questions I had.

The description given of this story begins "Alycia's always possessed an affinity for cats, big and small." This should have been my first clue that this was gonna be a really weird read.

This story just freaked me out. A human woman having sex with a 6 ft 5 feline man is a strange thought. All I could picture was Tony the Tiger getting his groove on with a sister. Not a good image.
The erotic scenes used words such as 'fur' and 'paws' to describe him. Please tell me what human woman (unless she is mentally unstable) wants to have relations with someone (or something in this case) with FUR or PAWS? That is just gross. Nothing in Barrick's physical description would make me want to get with him. I was waiting for him to cough up a furball.
I will have to pass on this series. Sorry.

Okay now. I'm not one for all the sci stuff and when I started reading about the shape shifters and mating with humans I was a little put off, but I kept reading and loved this book. I'm more of a street lit reader myself, but im getting all of her stories now, this was a great read, buy it.

Captain Barrick's kind (tiger like creatures) is dying off and to offset this Barrick decides he must mate with an outsider. Barrick pays 2 million credits to a woman to locate his mate. The woman finds Alycia James here on Earth. Barrick travels to Earth and claims Alycia as his mate.

************Spoiler*********
Alycia manages to flee from Barrick and then is captured by Barrick's enemies. Barrick rescues Alycia. Alycia thinks that since Barrick rescued her he must love her. I think the 2 million credits he spent on finding her behind was his motivation for rescuing her.
**********Spoiler Over***********************

This story is not for the faint of heart. There were two scenes that made me say, "Eew!" Needless to say, this story was not romantic or sexy.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Skip it. You won't miss anything if you don't read it.

This book was highly entertaining and for being less than a $1, it was a steal. Not to mention the writing was good.

Barrick kidnaps Alycia because she is his mate and he knows this because she wore his heartstone(essentially his heart). There is a reason behind this that spills into the following book. For a short story there was actually a plot! 2 1/2 sex scenes and there was no graphic words to describe the sex scene. If you've ever read a book by Lora Leigh, you can figure out how the males are....

Alycia was quite understanding, considering she was taken from her planet/dimension and told she would be stuck with him and that they were mates. Barrick was a alpha tigon and he protected her. It was odd that she loved him but Barrick did have a line which explained why she does.

People who said this book was 'freaky' or 'eww' was due to the fact that Barrick is a shifter but unlike most shifters books he is always lined with fur and claws. He is NOT human. And there was also a questionable sex scene that those who are offended easily may not like.

I recommend this book, if you are ok with sex that (may) push the envelope and the hero has fur.

This is Book 1--

A short read for the price of the book. Needed to be better price.
Finished book in about 45 minutes.

Woman is kidnapped by her mate and told she had to accept it. She doesn't and runs away.
She gets captured by another and her mate has to comerescure her. Put on sex show to prove they are mated and off they go.
This is forced acceptance for the female lead.

Book seems to take place all in 24 hours. A 45 min read.

Epilogue is only two weeks late and not much.

Paid for Book 2, just not sure if I want to read it or not.
