Review

Publisher’s Weekly
“(this) informative guidebook combines casual descriptions of the animals with grainy illustrations reminiscent of vintage flashcards…Congdon’s paintings are characterized by naturalistic details and touches of surprising whimsy—an owl’s feathers are embellished in gold, purples, and reds—communicating a palpable sense of wonder in the bountiful diversity of animals.”

Globe and Mail (Toronto)
“this big, handsome book with its attractive layout and a rich colour palette really does deliver the goods. From Aardvark to Zigzag Salamander, from Krill to Quahog, each and all are a feast for the eye and a sop to the curious of mind”

My son discovered this book in his elementary classroom and apparently spent a lot of time in class reading it. How did I know? He would entertain our family at dinner (and especially his younger siblings) with fascinating facts and details about all kinds of animals. He begged to have a copy at home so he could show his brother and sister. How could we say no to such a transformative book? Our kids love pouring over the animal details and the gorgeous illustrations. Better then a toy!

This book is super easy to understand with lots of unique and interesting facts about hundreds of different species of various animals. My children have no problem understanding the content and read through it easily. There is nothing complicated about this book, it describes animals in a very easy format with simple words.

I saw this book in a store recently and before I could purchase it, another customer bought the only copy. So, I went home, got on Amazon and found the book for a better price than the one I had seen at the store. I ordered the book and it arrived in a few short days and in perfect condition. I was very pleased! It is a cute book and just right for young children to look at by themselves or read with a parent or grandparent.
