Book Description

A step-by-step presentation of Direct-Path-style nondual inquiry, from beginning to end and beyond. Features 40 experiments that guide you experientially from simple perception all the way to the sweet collapse of the witness into pure consciousness.

Description
Have you ever done nondual inquiry and said to yourself, "I understand it intellectually but I don't feel it. It's not my experience!" If so, The Direct Path could be for you.

This book is the "missing manual" to the Direct Path. For the first time in print, Direct-Path inquiry is presented from beginning to end and beyond, in a "user-friendly" way. The core of the book is a set of 40 experiments designed to help dissolve the most common nondual sticking points from simple to subtle. The experiments cover the world, the body, the mind, abstract objects and witnessing awareness. You are taken step by step from the simple perception of a physical object all the way to the collapse of the witness into pure consciousness. Your "take-away" is that there's no experiential doubt that you and all things are awareness, openness and love.

Also included are three tables of contents, illustrations, an index, and a section on teaching and the notion of a "post-nondual realization."

This book can be utilized on its own or as a companion volume to the author's ‘Standing as Awareness’.

About the Author

Dr. Greg Goode is known for a unique combination of penetrating insight, comfort with both Eastern and Western sources, and a down-to-earth sense of humor. He is the author of ‘Standing as Awareness’, ‘Nonduality in Western Philosophy’ and many popular articles. Greg studied psychology at the University of California, and philosophy at the University of Rochester and the Universität zu Köln. He became drawn to self-inquiry initially through the work of Brand Blanshard, George Berkeley, the Chinmaya Mission and Arsha Vidya Gurukulam. Greg's spiritual search came to its sweet conclusion through the Direct-Path influences of Francis Lucille and Sri Atmananda. Greg is a member of the American Philosophical Practitioners Association and serves as the technical consultant for their peer-reviewed journal, ‘Philosophical Practice’.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Grand Follow-Up to 'Standing as Awareness' August 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is bigger and more comprehensive than the first book. This has to be one of the most pragmatic books in the Advaita school of thought. Greg is so very good at giving you simple, practical tools and experiments for verifying for yourself the truth of oneness in your everyday life situations.

When the first book was published, the author had promised a sequel. And he does keep his promise! By the way, I also wanted to thank Mr. Goode for personally responding to a few queries that I had emailed him. I was thrilled to see the reply. I think that is another sign of his integrity. Thank you!

I highly recommend this book to both the tyro as well as the experienced seeker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent work. Kindle version needs improvement. March 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can't really add much to the great reviews of this fine book. To say it is ground breaking would be an understatement. It is the clearest writing on the direct path that I've encountered. And I remain indifferent as to who published it, or has reviewd it. This book stands on its own merits and deserves the highest rating. However, there is an annoyance asociated with the Kindle edition of this book. My Kindle version suffers from the, "Goldilocks syndrome." I found it difficult to find a comfortable font size with my Kindle Fire. Font 7 is too small for my eyesight while 8 is about double in size, making it too big. In addition, some of the diagrams and charts are quite small, but could Not be enlarged along with the fonts. I plan on purchasing the print version because the book is definitely worth it. Bottom line, I recommend you get the print version and pass on the Kindle verson, unless your rightful nickname is, Hawkeye.

This is an interesting book, arguing for a kind of enlightenment based on direct experience. There are aspects of it that elude me and it seems overly argumentative in its presentation. But that could just be me.
