About The Dirt - (Young Adult Fiction)
Lucy Whitley cannot wait to get out of Palm Desert. It’s not a place for a frizzy-haired science nerd, particularly when her fashion-obsessed older sister Sloane is the head of a clique of pretty girls who rule the school – and practically the whole town.

Fortunately, life is about to change forever. Lucy’s dad is getting re-married, and then she can transfer to a boarding school in Connecticut, escaping all the mean girls and the endless whispers about the Whitley family scandal. Everything is going to be perfect – as long as the wedding goes smoothly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, Fun, Entertaining Read!! January 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was looking through kindle books, to get my Prime loan book for the month, when I came upon Dirt. I was not sure whether to get it or not, but decided to give it a try! WOW, am I ever glad I did! This was an excellent book! It was fun, engaging, and very entertaining. There is nothing better than some mystery and sibling rivalry...mixed with gossip and mayhem! I had this book read completely in about 3 days time....the last like 80% of it within a like 30 hour period..I just could not put it down! This is one of those books that you could probably read over and over agin! You root for the heroine sister, want to slap the mean one (Sloan...she is the girl we all hated in high school, lol)...and that is just 2 of the sisters...the others are characters all their own...and there is so much more to the story! I hope you read all the good reviews and give this book a read...Lori is a great author and I will be definately checking out her other work! I loved this!

The Dirt is a great read and has a little something for everyone: the girl everyone is rooting for, the bitchy older sister everyone loves to hate, mysterious disappearances, paparazzi, secret societies, young love, and even a mean grandma.

Young adults will be sucked into this book - and (older) adults will too.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable story January 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a YA book, or not, but I enjoyed it.

It has humor, family drama, and a little mystery. The characters are very believable, and you find yourself rooting for more than one of them. The PG storyline was funny and something most people can relate to - it explains so well in a sarcastic way why all the pretty people stick together. I thought the author using a teenage girl's voice to tell the story really made the book.

Can't remember why I ordered it, but it is intended for young girls and not for middle age women. That's it, my fault.
