I just finished reading Jacob's book; it is one of those rare stories where you begin to believe it is actually happening, happened, will happen.

Jacob has written a story that could be read by anyone. It moves along at a pace that kept my interest and at times I was reluctant to put it down and felt on occasions that I couldn't wait to pick it up again to see what happens next. A sure-sign of a good read for me.

In its simplest form it is an adventure experienced by a 'successful' business man who lives in the fast corporate world where succeeding is measured by the physical things one has acquired. This journey takes him to places some of us may only dream of seeing but it is not easy and the people he meets ask him to relinquish his much desired and fought for possessions and possibly even his way of life and the people who inhabit that life with him.

In its much deeper more profound form it is about reaching that point in life where something has to give but we don't know how or why we have that need. It is about trusting the intuition and gut feelings we have that take us away from the norm in order to experience the extraordinary. It is a rich story about awakening to the much bigger picture of love and joy that can only be found when we surrender and that can never be found in possessions.

This book has many layers but is about a spiritual awakening in a 'good' man which turns his life and that of his family on its head never to be the same again. It is heart warming and will give hope to many finding life difficult.

Thank you Jacob for your vision, trust and surrender.

The Divine Arsonist is the story of a businessman who worked hard to climb the ladder of success only to have something whisper to him that perhaps there was something more to discover. This is his journey of discovery told in a blend of the personal story and fiction. It immediately spoke to me of the question: When do we start dreaming a new dream for ourselves and our world? The old ways are burning us out. That's where Jacob is at the beginning of his journey. There are so many elements of a shamanic journey, vision quest or hero's journey from old mythology: meeting spiritual guides, being challenged to endure rites of passage, time in the wilderness, facing the shadow and opening to all the levels of reality beyond our day-to-day "get it done" consciousness. The writing is luscious, descriptive and an easy read. I could have easily read it in one sitting but I forced myself to turn off the light at night and savor it over the course of several bedtime reading sessions. There are beautiful teachings that you want to grab the highlighter to remember.

Jacob's journey toward finding his light is an invitation or challenge to go on your own journey, to claim your own light. It is a tale that reminds us that life is short and that we are choosing the world we live in right now with each thought and each action we take. It is a story that reminds us that sometimes we have to let go of everything that we think we know to become the person we came to earth to be. Even though I've had my own awakening moments, Jacob's writing made me want to commit to living them on an even deeper level. Isn't that what we want a spiritual book to do?

This is an important book. Going from harried businessman to honest seeker proves to be quite the journey and one which many can relate to in various ways. We're all familiar with the proverbial rat race and have all experienced how draining it can be. Author Jacob Nordby does a great job detailing the process in an often brutal, but always honest and refreshing way. He doesn't pull any punches and the book is stronger because of it.

"The Divine Arsonist" effectively pulls the reader into the story, the emotions are evident and raw, and the lessons are real. I would encourage everyone who reads this book to do so without any preconceived ideas about what it will be like or how it should be. The book explores some ideas and concepts that may not be familiar to everyone, but if you read it unassumingly, I believe you will benefit greatly from the experience. I know I did.

I briefly met the author, Jacob Nordby, who barely mentioned a few short lines about his book; but with his humble demeanor and sincerity, it was enough for me to buy it on the spot. I didn't know much about the book, he just seemed like a good guy who had gone through a major personal transition, something that I'm currently considering in my own life. The funny thing was that I told my husband about the book when I brought it home and he asked if he could start reading it until I had some time to get to it. I said sure and saw that he became completely engrossed, finishing the book in less than 5 days. At that point, I couldn't wait for my turn and my husband couldn't wait for me to finish so that we could discuss it together. I was drawn in so quickly from the moment I started reading. I finished the book even faster than my husband, in only 4 days. Maybe it's because so many things Jacob discusses resonated so deeply, or maybe it was because I have had a small tastes of some of the things he talks about, but this book moved me to the core. It really struck a chord with both myself and my husband. I feel that same sense of urgency to "Be the Change" we want to see in the world... to do it today...this very minute.

So many of us are caught up in a situation similar to Jacob with the "golden handcuffs" - scared to leave the rat race and almighty paycheck to live a life that feels simple, right and good. With everyone living in this illusion, it seems impossible that our society could ever change. But this book and my own internal compass tells me, a new shift in consciousness is not only possible, but it is coming. This book has inspired me, and I hope it will inspire others, to start walking the walk of their true humble desires and look within for answers. Thank you Jacob Nordby for sharing your story!
