Book Description

July 17, 2012

Why are we all here? What is the meaning of life? What in the world is God actually doing with us? And what really happens when we die?

These fundamental questions have haunted virtually everyone since the dawn of human existence. But what if the answer were already right in front of us? What if it were hiding in plain sight, inside a book you probably already have--the Holy Bible?

The truth is: It is.

There is a divine secret that clearly explains the meaning of life and exactly what is intended for your personal future--and it's more sensational than you've ever imagined. Journalist Joe Kovacs, a Bible-believing Christian and author of the Amazon.com bestseller Shocked by the Bible, explores the truth explained in the Bible itself to unravel what Scripture calls ''the secret that was hidden from everyone since the beginning of time.''

The Divine Secret: The Awesome and Untold Truth About Your Phenomenal Destiny takes on the biggest questions of all time, including why God created men and women in the first place and what is really meant for everyone in the years to come. It spans countless centuries of God's plan, from the deepest part of antiquity, long before the creation of Earth, to the second coming of Jesus and far beyond. It explores the unpublicized reasons why we exist, why life is so challenging, and what exactly you're meant to do once Jesus comes back.

The Divine Secret also reveals what will likely happen to the many who never heard God's truth during their lives--or perhaps were confused about it. That revelation, drawn from the words of your own Bible, is not what you think. It's not what you've been taught--and it will leave you absolutely stunned.

Joe Kovacs is ready to present the incredible truth of your phenomenal destiny. It's time for it to be unveiled, understood, and broadcast. It's time to reveal The Divine Secret.

Special feature: All personal comments from God are highlighted in red letters, even from the Old Testament.

Editorial Reviews

Review

I have been a student of the Bible for some 36 years, and rarely do I see a book like The Divine Secret by Joe Kovacs. Following up on his bestseller, Shocked by the Bible, Kovacs has been able to do what is rarely done these days: give an unbiased look at what the Bible actually states, and not the doctrine of some religious group. It is so refreshing to read his witty prose and the untouched scriptural themes that have been overlooked by so many others. This book, like his previous one, is an easy read and a fun read. But most importantly, it's a ''shocking'' new study of ancient and forgotten truths found in the pages of every Bible. In The Divine Secret, he expertly combs through numerous translations of Holy Scripture, highlighting biblical events that fit perfectly with the mind of God and what God meant to be understood in easily read modern English versions. I guarantee that if you keep an open mind, you'll never be able to put this book down until every delicious page is read. As Joe Kovacs has stated in numerous interviews, ''just reading the words on the page'' will truly be shocking to everyone! Five stars from ThePlainTruth.com! --Bob Barney, editor, ThePlainTruth.com

This is a timely book for an age when, sadly, many churches no longer see fit to tell their congregations about our glorious future as God's children. Joe Kovacs shines new light on ancient truths that once turned the world upside-down. If it be the will of God, through the words on these pages they will do so again! --Ken Hancock, Presenter, Stained Glass Radio, Northsound 2, Scotland

Joe Kovacs's first book was pivotal to my faith at a time when I headed toward the 'ancient path' spoken of in Jeremiah 6:16. Joe encouraged me to arrive at conclusions simply by reading the words on the pages of the Bible without adding or subtracting anything. We all have conclusions, but the question must be asked, 'What do I base it on?' Joe reassured me that questioning what I thought I knew was a safe and honorable endeavor. He was my first guest on Truth2U and has been on the program numerous times. I can truly say he has a heart to obey the truth of our Father's word. --Jono Vandor, Truth2U Radio, Australia

2.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre September 3, 2012

I am a retired pastor, a serious Bible student, and Bible commentator. I am afraid that I must disagree with the more enthusiastic customer reviews. I must give this book only two stars. I can only marginally recommend it for the novice or for the person who has just begun to study the scriptures. However, I cannot recommend this book for the serious Bible student.

There are a couple of glaring issues that caused me problems. In several places the scriptures were taken out of context to prove the author's point. For example, Hebrews 2:6-8 speaks of man being a little lower than angels. This scripture certainly tells us that humans were made a little lower than angels but the entire idea of the passage is that Messiah was a man. Therefore this passage specifically refers to Christ as a man, but does not refer to all humankind. In verse 9, the writer of Hebrews explains that he is indeed discussing Christ. The author takes this verse out of context and states that the passage says that all saved people will have authority over all things. Only Christ Himself has such authority.

There are also a few places where the author misunderstands the scripture he has quoted. One example is his use of Psalm 82:6 to show that Christians are part of the family of God. I agree with his premise, that we are of the family of God; I disagree with his use of the scripture in this case to prove his point. Psalm 82:6 says, "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." The word rendered "gods" here is "elohim." This word can mean Jehovah, or it can mean false gods, or it can mean the religious leaders. In the context here God is speaking to the religious leaders and not the common people, thus God is calling the religious leaders gods. The author specifically states, "The Creator of the universe had already declared in unbreakable Scripture that human beings are gods..." I respectfully disagree. All humans are not gods, that is, all humans are not spiritual leaders, though some are, nor are they false gods, though some are, nor are they Jehovah Himself, which none are.

There are many examples of scriptures taken out of context as well as scriptures either misunderstood or misrepresented by the author. Hence my lackluster recommendation for the novice and my lack of recommendation for the serious student.

I grew up in the church hearing answers to the BIG questions like "What is the purpose to all of this?" and "Why am I here?" but never really heard an answer that made sense. Most of the sermons ended with statements like, "You just have to have faith" or "You must not have the Holy Spirit or you would understand" or "Once you get to heaven you'll be happy just praising God forever"

As an adult I took theology and apologetics classes to try and get answers that not only made sense to me but that I could confidently share with others.

Mr. Kovacs doesn't make the scriptures do spiritual back flips to support a denominational or theological agenda. He just lets the Bible speak for itself. God used this book to truly change my life. Once you know the purpose behind things and the end result, life just gets a whole lot easier.

Now, my children are asking me those same though questions like "Where's Grandma now?" and "What will happen to me when I die?" As a parent the biggest blessing came when I was able to answer their questions and they looked at me and said "Wow...mom...Thank you. That makes sense!"

I encourage everybody to read this book. You won't be sorry and your children might even thank you for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Divine Secret Revealed July 7, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Kovacs does a remarkable job of bringing the Words of Scripture to life with respect to the destiny of man. If you have ever wondered--and who has not?--what is the purpose of this vain life, then this book is a must read. It explains in compelling detail from the Words of Scripture why God created the earth and man to dwell in it and for what purpose.

What is amazing is that what Kovacs characterizes in the title of the book as a Divine Secret is in fact a Divine Revelation. The key? Perhaps the key is not the secret itself but the methodology Kovacs describes in the introduction of his book: "I do something surprisingly simple. I open the Bible, read the words on its pages, and actually believe them."

What an innovative way to look at the Scriptures. Simple. Profound. True. Actually believing and not just professing! What a concept!

This book is for anyone interested in the truth of Scripture.
