Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

A wagging tail. A goofy, floppy-tongued smile. An excited bark when your keys jingle in the door.

Dogs are truly one of God's finest creatures, a marvelous gift for us humans. They love us despite our faults and remind us to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. They give us their all in return for food, play, and a scratch behind the ears.

The Dog Next Door is a delightful collection of true stories that celebrate the dogs in our lives. Inside you'll meet a timid standard poodle who conquers his fears to bring joy to others, a brigade of protective German shepherds, a friendly dog who pulls a young man back from the darkness of mental illness, a scruffy mutt who finds her calling, and many more. These warm stories will touch your heart and renew your spirit.

So curl up on the couch with the special dog in your life . . . and enjoy!

"Every dog has a tale to tell. This lovable collection of true and heartwarming stories celebrates the bond between dogs and humans. You'll be entertained, inspired, and touched by the ability of dogs to be instruments of God's miracles. These powerful stories will resonate with anyone who has loved a dog."--Suzanne Woods Fisher, bestselling author of the Lancaster County Secrets series and puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind

"There's nothing like a good dog story to reassure me that, despite the six o'clock news, the world is still a good place. And I truly believe that dogs make us more human. I predict that these uplifting and amazing canine tales will warm the heart of any animal lover."--Melody Carlson, author of The Christmas Dog

For Christmas, I got myself the Kindle Keyboard and couldn't wait to download books!

I browsed my Wish List; I browsed the suggested recommendations; the Best Sellers list, and even the Free List.

The Dog Next Door was the one for me and I couldn't wait to read it. I'm a real dog lover and love good stories about all animals.

This book is not only a great book of many wonderful stories, beautifully written for all people to enjoy reading or listening to, which in of itself is a 'gift', but the fact that it was in the list of Free books, made it truly a Gift for me.

Thank you for the wonderful gift that keeps giving - from the dogs that these stories are about, the people in the stories, the authors who wrote them, the publishers who shared them, and Amazon who gave it to me.

Merry Christmas!

It has always been my belief that Dogs are angels on Earth. They are helpers. They know the meaning of unconditional love. They know forgiveness. They seem to be fairly good judge of character. This collection of heartwarming tales are wonderful for the Dog Lover, and they do much to solidify my belief that Dogs are Angels. :)

Though some of the stories are well written and entertaining - I didn't realize when I bought the book that it was the type of book I would have bought in a Christian reading store. It's fine if people want to read or write religious books, but I wish it would have been more clear in the book's description that it was more about believing in Jesus than a book about sentimental dog stories. It should have been titled "The dog in the church next door".

This is probably the best collection of personal stories I've read yet. Being a dog lover, I was drawn to the book by the title; after reading a couple of the stories, I knew the authors had captured the essence of having a dog: your dog is going to love you no matter what, and it's your responsibility to be worthy of that love. All kinds of dogs, dozens of types of people, the stories cover quite a chunk of humanity and interaction between humans and the dogs in their lives. This is a must-read for any dog lover. For those of you who haven't yet decided whether you're a "dog person," this book might just push you off the fence!

This is a compilation of many wonderful and heartwarming stories about some unforgettable dogs. It might be noted that peppered throughout the book are Christian references.
