This tale of a dog who starts watching tv after seeing another dog on the screen is charmingly told and will enchant young children not just because of the inclusion of a dog, but because the dog asks many of the same questions asked by the children themselves. A child old enough to appreciate the story will likely have noticed that dogs do at times seem to actually be watching the images with the aim of understanding them. My own dog, Levi, first developed an interest in Spot, the cat owned by Star Trek's Data, then an interest in Star Trek itself, even to the point of manipulating the channel changer, so this story struck something of a chord in me as well, and I believe most children will make the same sort of connection as well. A lovely and well-written story, not overly didactic, a good beginning book for an early reader.

Jasper sounds like a cute, silly, cuddling dog but jasper had imagination because he thought the dogs on the tv were in the same room with him.

Would have liked a more imaginative story about a dog who watched tv. This is a good Option for lower level readers.
