Aldous Huxley is one of my favorite scientific-minded writers. In "Doors of Perception," he turns himself into an experimental subject to explore the nature of perception by way of experimenting with mescalin and having a note taker write down his every comment about the changes in perception that he experiences. Aldous' mindset and approach are very unfamiliar to todays thinkers. The way Aldous writes is, although unrefined, the very epitome of creative and clarity.

I found Heaven and Hell to be equally fascinating. In it, Aldous explores the possible relationship between concepts such as perceived brightness and supposed experiences of Heaven. He also touches upon the idea "altered states" of reality.

These are quick reads and are worthy reading for all.

I got my book and week after I ordered it(I had the cheapest shipping option). It came in perfect shape, looking as though it had never even been touched by another human hand. The price was reasonable, the service was awesome, and the book is amazing. Will definitely buy from them in the future.

I bought this book because I was interested in this type of subject so it seemed like a no brainer to purchase -doors of perception-
Naturally I was anticipating quiet a shock of insight and such things but its not what I got out of this book. It was good enough and worth it absolutely, but I think that's more based on the fact that its THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION BY HUXLEY. The substance of the book was more along the line of a trip explanation and then how these substances fit in with modern society with the legality, and repressing our rights type rants etc... More than anything I had a screwy expectation that this would be different mostly due to how well known and talked about this book is in the realm of this subject. So 3 stars, its okay.

I had no idea that this book was just about Mr. Huxley's peyote trip in the 50's. That alone is interesting, and the time that it was written is very evident by the writing style. Fascinating.
