Here are eleven of my favorite stories, and since my favorite genre is science fiction, they are mostly SF except for The Princess Quest, a tongue-in-cheek sword and sorcery epic, and Old Rex, a ghost story.  They've all been  published elsewhere, except for Royal Guardians; this is its first time in print.  If you like reading about aliens, time travel, symbiotes, and humans searching for a home, family, their own bodies, etc., I think you'll enjoy this collection of characters and their adventures.

This is my second collection of short story reprints; most of them aren't available elsewhere, though a few are archived online.  This collection gives me the chance to share my stories and to put a couple connected stories together.  And, of course, this ebook gives Royal Guardians a home.  I hope to publish this collection in print later.

About the Author

Joy V. Smith has been writing stories since she was a kid; she made her own little books, complete with covers (in color).  Her stories and articles have been published in print magazines, webzines, and anthologies.  She recently ventured into e-books; she has four SF (her first love) e-books out now: Hidebound (SF romance/adventure), Pretty Pink Planet and Hot Yellow Planet (the sequel), The Doorway and Other Stories, along with Remodeling: Buying and Updating a Foreclosure.  (After buying a foreclosure earlier this year, she had to replace the kitchen.  They even took the kitchen sink!)

An absolutely wonderful set of stories! You will find yourself falling into the worlds she has created and wanting more :-)

Alternate worlds, talking cats, space ships, princesses, betrayal, weird creatures ... The only part of the stories I DIDN'T like was when it said "The End" ...

If you are a lover of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Speculative Fiction and want to visit other worlds and realities you will LOVE this book :-)

stories are well written. there is a story for everyone in this collection. nothing to heavy on the brain, and easy to read and enjoy. nice diversion for between novels

Joy V. Smith, a Wisconsin native and graduate of Oshkosh State U, writes fiction and non-fiction. Her non-fiction includes her house book, Building a Cool House for Hot Times without Scorching the Pocketbook. (Camping out in an unfinished house with Xena, her dog, gave her time to learn about construction and keep a diary.) That home out in the country was a registered wildlife habitat, where orphaned squirrels were released and loved to hang on the porch screens. Her fiction has appeared in various publications and anthologies, including Womanscapes and Magistria: The Realm of the Sorcerer. Her fiction books include Aliens, Animals, and Adventure (a collection of reprints) and Detour Trail (a western novel); and her SF has also been published in two audiobooks, including Sugar Time. Her e-books include Hidebound (SF), Pretty Pink Planet, Hot Yellow Planet, The Doorway and Other Stories (14 SF/fantasy reprints), and Remodeling: Buying and Updating a Foreclosure. She lives in Florida with Blizzard the Snow Princess and Bryn the Flying Corgi. (Xena didn't make it to the new house, and I still miss her.)
