Nautica and Khia are cousins working at Red's Chicken Shack scheming on the manager for some extra loot. Basically, they're two hood chicks looking for a way out of the ghetto. Nautica finds her mark in Zion and enjoys the fringe benefits of being a major baller's lady even when she has to suffer through his jealous rages and backhand slaps. A bag full of money, death and murders left behind finds Nautica in search of a safe haven and a fresh beginning.

Tical Manny has amassed his millions through the drug trade and is ready to relinquish his throne and live a comfortable life. A chance meeting at a party and he and Nautica become inseparable. Just as Nautica finds her confidence in their relationship and her title as first lady, someone from her past enters the picture. Tical's friends already have doubts about Nautica, and with the introduction of a new member to their crew and the familiar interaction with Nautica further increases their curiosity. Secondary character, Millie, was the most developed individual and has piqued my interest long after the story has ended....hint...hint.

JaQuavis Coleman's independent venture is as successful as past joint endeavors known as the renowned Ashley JaQuavis. The Dopeman's Wife only reinforces his natural skills in creativity, originality, and is strengthening his legacy while bringing greater notoriety to urban lit. I found this to be a fascinating read, with just enough suspense to have you reading rapidly toward a very unorthodox and unpredicatable ending. I commend JaQuavis on deviating his own path and blessing us with a full story, no sequel in sight. I look for more emotions in future endeavors to take away the raw edge and further enthrall the reader and no grammatical errors! I will never hesitate to purchase a read with this authors' stamp on it because I have the utmost faith in his delivery!!! Kudo's today, tomorrow and always!!! 4.35****

I have purchased a few books since Torn by Keyshia Ervin and have been a little dissapointed by some of the material i've read so I was hesitant on this book. But I have heard so, so many great things about this Author let alone the book and gave him a try for the first time.

Let's just say I finished this in 2 days due to a hectic work schedule, but I couldn't wait to get comfy in my bed and escape to this world of The Dopeman's Wife...A-M-A-ZING!!! This can definitely be scripted as a movie because this book had me hurt, angry, laughing, and shedding a few tears with this immaculate story line.
This is not only for us females who is a huge supporter of this genre but for the men as well, definitely one to add to your personal library...get with it!

This book was off the chain....I had no idea that this novel would be another page turner this time in a solo project by Jacquavis....It was an incredible read and a definite page turner.....I felt a bit sorry for Nauticus because Zion seemed like he would be her knight in shining armour but his treatment of her was possessive, abusive and a downright bully....And I didn't like Loon with his sick and demented ass at all.... If he wanted to come up he should've been a man about it and put that bit of info in Tical's ears first hand...But he was a coward who tried to reap the benefits of blackmail by taking advantage of Nautica whose back he had against the wall....BUT....She was a bit naive herself....he was a murderer and stickup kid...so she really didn't have anything to lose if she really thought about it....BUT she too was living foul and that stunt she pulled with Millie was just straight out WRONG!!!!

Loved IT!!!!!!

Whack to death!

Okay, so first I want to talk to the other reviewers. I am so tired of you people reviewing the author rather than the book.... This book was horrible! And you all know that if it were any other author that put this out you would have said the same thing! Just because it's Jaquavis' of Ashley & Jaquavis debut book does not automatically mean that the book is going to be on point. It just means that the author has an established background but if you people keep telling this dude that books that aren't worth anything are boss then we're going to keep getting lower level type of writing! Stop being yes men! Tell the truth...God, man!

Okay, Jaquavis: Really? I mean, no, really? That's what you want to put out? I can't even say that that would be a good book even if it were your first book ever! You need to up your game. Real talk. This was a waste of time. And because it held your name I messed around and picked up part two at the same time I bought this one and I pray it's not as whack as this. You can't write the way you do then have the balls enough to put out this! Disappointing. I'm a die-hard fan, which is why I'm shocked that you could even write this level of crap (and you know that's not the word I want to use right now).

The book: if you haven't figured it out by now. I think this book is terrible. I don't know where to start. There was no real character development. I mean after 230 pages of what was supposed to be introspective writing; I still don't feel like I know any of the characters. Well let me stop- I knew Khia, actually I predicted that homegirl was going to off Zion. Everybody else was a stranger to me.
The plot, although a little different, is the same thing I've read before. (What did you run out of material?
