A mysterious skill that straddles the line between paranormal and possible, a woman mourning her husband lost at sea, and the sunny embrace of Maui all come together in an evocative narrative that quickly becomes a real page-turner. Tina Greene's struggles with her loss, an unstable friend, an old lover's reappearance, and watery nightmares that may or may not lead her to her husband's body are depicted realistically and, at times, with a refreshing splash of humor. Ms. Hornsby's SCUBA expertise and highly visual descriptions of Maui life made me ache to return to the islands. A very engaging and entertaining beach book--even better, a great winter read for bringing a little Hawaii warmth into colder climes.

I picked up this book because I love Maui, and haven't been able to put it down since! The decription of the experiences on the island make you feel like you are there. The main characters, Tina and Jamey are riveting and have an interesting life and backstory... I just fell in love with them. It is suspenseful so you can't put it down because you want to know what happens next. I love the romance and intrigue as well. I am not finished yet, but am guessing I will be staying up late again tonight to find out what happens.... great first book by Kim Hornsby!

This is a little gem. The story is engaging, the relationship between Tina and Jamey builds nicely, the suspense keeps coming, and there are twists and turns that caught me completely off guard. And it all comes with this great paranormal edge. Just the right kind of book to distract from the daily grind or pack for the plane ride. Love the ending.

Good concept. Well developed characters. Knew killer by chapter 8. Knew motive midway through. This book will keep you reading through to the end even if you figure out some main aspects of the plot. My biggest problem was continuity. At several points it would jump to a conclusion or assumed understanding and I'd go back thinking I missed something in the reading. I didn't. Some editing and much better verb tense structure would help the story read more smoothly. I'm not a stickler for grammar but this book, more times than I cared for, had me again, going back thinking I missed a paragraph or conversation when I didn't. Very distracting. Overall it's a good read and I will read her next book.

I fantasy romance paranormal read that kept me on the edge of my seat with mystery, suspense and loads of action - filled twists and turns so good that I could not figure out what would happen next and how it would come to an end. And that my dear reader friends is a excellent sign that this book was a fantastic read.

As most times with a mystery filled book I always manage to solve the hidden secrets before they are fully exposed, but with this one I could not get it right, every time I thought "By Joe I got it!" I was quickly thrown of track and surprised with a whole new outcome.

The book is about Tina a woman that finds it understandably very hard to get over the death of her husband, but from the depths of her sorrow she pulls herself together and decides saving her diving shop will keep her not only from not focusing on her loss but also will save her business. So she sets to work but unexpectedly she finds herself with the help of two men, one her dead husband's best friend and the other her ex. Both men want to help her but when one reveals that he has a ability to enter dreams and therefore could just maybe solve her husband's murder the race to solve a mystery and keep their heads above water is on!

And what a race it was, I was completely sucked in by this one. The author blew my senses with mystery, romance and secrets so deep, dark and dangerous that it this read was a movie it surly would have walked away with every award out there!

I loved this book. Its a blend of fantasy, romance, and suspense. Well developed characters and enough intrigue to try to figure things out myself. I was right on a few counts, and wrong as well. The whole 'dream jumping' premise if fantastical enough to allow you to leave reality behind and just enjoy the ride. Kim developed her characters well and I found myself invested in all of them, and hoping for a good outcome. I had a hard time putting it down! I also appreciated the little bit of romance without feeling the need to go for tons of explicit details. Great great book, I look forward to the next in the series. And thats saying something for me!

Okay, so, the story is about (Kris)Tina Greene/Perez, who was widowed less than a year ago when her husband tragically disappeared while out surfing. Tina refuses to believe Hank is actually dead, because his body was never found, and keeps hoping he's going to turn up. Meanwhile, she tries to recover from her ordeal and get her business, a dive shop in Hawaii, running properly again so she can pay all of her bills. Then James/Jamey shows up. He's an ex-boyfriend from years ago, and he's very interested in what's going on with Tina. We soon learn that Jamey can jump into people's dreams and interfere with them, and he wants to use his abilities to help Tina deciper the wacky dreams she's been having lately in hopes that they might reveal something about Hank's disappearance. Also meanwhile, Tina tries to balance things with Hank's best friend, Noble, who is also very interested in her.

I did like this book, overall, but it wasn't fabulous. First, everybody wants to have sex with Tina. I don't know why. She's pretty, I guess--I can't actually really remember much how she's described, other than being small and having dark hair and big breasts, but being pretty is a safe bet for a heroine--but everyone appears to connect with her on a Deeper Level. They don't want to sleep with her because she's hot, but because she's Special. Blah. Boring. Second, pretty much half the characters in this novel are total creeps, and you can definitely tell they're scheming something all along. The exact something might evade you--it evaded me until the end--but you can tell they're in on it in some form. Third, Jamey's entire Kandahar story line is completely hokey and unnecessary. I think it was an attempt to make him "deep," but it wasn't needed.
