5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most infectious dance-albums of the 90's, December 11, 2010
This review is from: The Drive (Audio CD)
And I simply cannot understand why this album didn't sell much more than it did back than, in 1995. Most of the people remember Haddaway as the guy who sang the smash-hit "What it love" - and that was a fine dance-tune, off-course - but Haddaway is much more than a one-hit wonder. This album, his second, showcases his talents in writing, singing and bringing the best of the eurodance music type, that was so popular in the early nineties.
It took me quite a while to get this album, but I remember myself humming to the single from it, "Fly away" - a lovely and engergetic dance-song that was played a lot on the radio back than. Also the song "Catch a fire" rang a bell for me when I heared it on the "Drive" album - but honestly, all of the twelve songs here are terrific and can make you get up and dance. You just can't help but move your feet to these songs - and what I like the most about Haddaway is, than unlike other dance artists of his era, he actually had something to say in his songs - most of the lyrics made me also listen and think, not just dance! There is also a lovely ballad here, "Lover be thy name", which showcases Haddaway's deep and impressing singing voice - he could really be a very good soul singer if he wanted to! But, I guess, dance-music is his love, and that's okay, because he's great at that genre.
Anyways, I highly recommend this for all eurodance lovers, who wants some depth to the songs they're listening to... It's really a classic. Also, worth having is Haddaway's first album from 1993. Enjoy the beats!
