Book Description

It's been five years since Eric Halman's young daughter was drugged and kidnapped by a man who stalks his victims only on Halloween. Since then he's made it his life's mission to do what the police can't seem to do -- capture this predator (and maybe torture him). But he'll have to be careful, because the worst thing that could happen would be if the druggist somehow got the upper hand and drugged Eric, sending him into an otherworld of nightmarish hallucinations.

Dark and disturbing, "The Druggist" will infect your psyche and stay with you well after you're done reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Freaky yet Fantastic Stuff. October 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
After reading (and very much enjoying) his novel 'Catch Up To Myself', I wanted to check out this Halloween-themed short story by author Todd Croak-Falen. It did not disappoint! Excellent writing; a spooky, spooky narrative. Might keep you up for a few hours during the night you decide to get into it...but for those like to be scared, consider it well worth it.

The short time I spent reading this wild ride of a story is nothing compared to the time I spent contemplating its contents and the fear, the chill, the overall thrilling sensation that I was left with when I was finished. The author lures you in from the very first sentence from a first-person perspective and you are ushered along on a tense and fearful ride that lingers long after the story... ends? Definitely worth the read and now I'm intrigued enough by Croak-Falen's writing to check out his book "Catch Up To Myself."

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling October 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is one of the most effective Halloween-themed short stories I've ever read. Not only does it have an engaging (and unsettling) plot, but it also features a truly novel use of the first-person that makes the writing come nightmarishly to life. The ending--which I wouldn't dare spoil--really kicked me in the gut. Highly recommended for anyone in the mood for a macabre page-turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spooky! October 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a genuinely spooky story that will pull you right in! It's bizarre and surreal and completely avoids cliche. A totally different style from Todd Croak-Falen's novel Catch Up To Myself, but every bit as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary Good Read for Halloween!! October 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just look at the cover of this book, does that say nightmares or what? And I was just crazy enough to read it before bed with my Kindle being the only light in the room!

This was a perfect story to read for Halloween. The author does a fabulous job with descriptions! I felt as if I were part of the story as it reminded me of being a child out trick or treating. I am just glad that I never had contact with the druggist.

I highly recommend this to anyone who likes creepy, rather dark, scary, nightmarish short stories! This is a story that will play with your mind since I am afraid to turn over and make sure sleeping hubby doesn't have a top hat on his head! *screams*

4.0 out of 5 stars Short Story Shivers! October 20, 2013

Not for the queasy, or the faint of heart. Perfect for a quick Halloween read.

This is a short, suspenseful, and haunting type of story which is rather disturbing--but isn't that what spooky thrillers are supposed to be? Very well written and edited. It makes the reader feel a lot of emotions.

Would I recommend it? Yes, but not for the young reader. Would I re-read it? Are you kidding? As good as it was, once was enough to give me the creeps!

This short story was really creepy. It was very well written, and got you hooked right from the beginning. The ending was sorta strange, but a good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid short, very enjoyable
Solid short story. As much characterization as necessary to keep things moving and no more, easy language, and compelling plot.

3.0 out of 5 stars would recommend for a quick suspenseful short story.
Was a pretty good story line. I thought it ended rather strange and abrupt.

The story was engaging but a little bit predictable. I feel like the story had promise but was a bit rushed in its execution.
