Praise for THE DRUNK DIET:

"Make no mistake. Lüc Carl is the real deal." —Runners World, November 2012 Issue

"In his frank and funny book The Drunk Diet, Lüc Carl shares legit running tips." —Runners World, April 2012 Issue

"If you need motivation to ride, run, or just eat better, you'll find Carl to be an inspirational cheerleader for the healthy rock-and-roll life." —Bicycling Magazine

"What happens when a rock 'n' roll bartender finds that too many nights of boozing and eating pizza pile on the pounds? "The Drunk Diet" — which, despite its title, means learning to love running, and drinking in moderation." —USA Today

"Tipping the profanity scale by dropping the F-bomb 288 times, this long-haired, leather-loving nontraditional-diet guru proves that by swapping midnight burger binges and processed junk for exercise and natural foods, you too can get back into your spandex tippling as you go." —Vanity Fair

"His enthusiasm is infectious, and you are basically hearing him talk through the page. That's a rarity for any writer to achieve." —The Examiner.com

"His book chronicles his journey to thin and proves that boozing and losing needn’t always be mutually exclusive. You might not party like Lüc, but you can still learn from him about keeping your belly flat when your tumbler’s full." —MensHealth.com

"Carl is refreshingly up-front...ample amounts of sensible advice, whether you're lookin to get ripped or just drop a few pounds." —Penthouse Magazine

"I could open the book to any page and be amused at the way he tells his story, but his method is reliable and his information true." —The Dallas Morning News

"Rock 'N Roll Jesus" —The Dudley and Bob Morning Show, 93.7 KLBJ The Rock of Austin, TX

"The Drunk Diet couldn't have come at a better time in my life. After 20 years working as a chef, eating all day, drinking all night and then eating AGAIN at 5 am, something had to change. But I didn't even know how to begin changing decades long bad habits; Lüc Carl demonstrates that YOU truly are the key to your own health and happiness—not expensive gym memberships or unrealistic diet plans developed by "experts". This is as straight forward as it gets, with real advice that WILL change your life." —Chris Santos, Celebrity Chef (Stanton Social, Beauty & Essex, and the Food Network's Chopped)

“Rock n Roll + long hair + whiskey + beer - cigarettes - 5 A.M. cheesesteaks + balls + running + cycling + broccoli - 40 pounds = The Drunk Diet.” —Brian Newman, jazz trumpeter and singer

From the Back Cover

The Drunk Diet is the beer-soaked tale of a long-haired, leather-clad Rock ’N Roll party-maker who transformed a whiskey-and-5-A.M.-cheeseburger lifestyle into a wildly successful weight-loss regime. If you've ever felt intimidated by the whey-guzzling, creatine-popping models on muscle magazine covers, or unmotivated by ridiculously buff fitness gurus who swear you can look just like them if you simply follow their completely unrealistic, masochistic program...OR if you want to read about a regular guy who managed to change his life for the better, this book is for you.

I work at the library and I remember the day this book came in, I took one look at it and thought, really? Sigh... But every time I passed it on the bookshelf it caught my attention, and then I saw people checking the book out, so, I grabbed a copy and started reading and didn't stop until I got to the last page, he had me at his disclaimer, page 1. It's not a "how to" diet book, he doesn't tell you "do this, eat that", it's simply HIS story, how he lost weight, what works for him, and how he found hope in a pair of running shoes! This is a great read for anyone who wants to make a change in their life, do better.... be better.... Don't let his hard rocker look and his cocky attitude fool you, he's a sweet, smart guy who did his homework and did the hard work to get where he's at today and wrote it all down in a book. Though I can check this book out for free anytime I want, I'm going to buy this book to keep around for whenever I need inspiration, motivation to keep moving, and a real good laugh!

I bought The Drunk Diet mainly because I love rock-and-roll and I love memoirs. What I got was something more - a ton of great eating/lifestyle tips and the inspiration to change my habits for the better. Luc's writing style is hilarious, intelligent and engaging. I've lived in NYC for a while now and I remember Luc from his bartender days. I always assumed he got his not-an-ounce-of-fat physique from the typical hipster tactics of cocaine and starvation. Who knew he was working his butt off the whole time? What a role model!

This book gave me the "oomph" we have all needed. Whether if just coming to the realization that our lives, and health suck, or we need a "booster shot." Hey, this is the MOST honest approach to health, and wellness, and life I've ever read.. If you are offended easily, then don't waste your time. If you are not, and need a kick in the ass to set you right, or maybe like me, you already run, eat healthy, but it was getting monotonous, and you need a pick me up... This is your read! I've bought the "Professionals books," Dr. Phil and yada yada yada, but I NEVER FINISHED THEM. They were dull, devoid of any real human connection, drive, and struggle. This isn't that kinda book... I finished it, and read it again.. It's staying right here, and not going to any yardsale pile! I will need these words, and thoughts, and struggles for as long as I live.. Thanks for such a powerful, insightful peek in your life.. And the changes you made! That couldn't have been easy by any mean's. I've great respect for you, and your accomplishments. Thank's for sharing Luc Carl. I think of certain things you wrote, when I struggle to get up,and lace up on a cold morning. Your words are so powerful, and moving!

I just finished reading The Drunk Diet, and I have to say I'm happily surprised. Judging by the Black Sabbath colors, the crazy hair, the zebra/leopard print theme--(a hint of Zoolander?) this book is highly deceptive. Luc is honest and real in the portrayal of himself as an overweight junk food eater, who is trying to get his body and his life back on track.

The organization of the book is helpful for those who are curious, and like he says very frankly and honestly in the book--if you're trying to loose weight and go into a bookstore, all you'll find are airbrushed men and women. Luc takes us away from that image and gives us a real one by breaking it down into simple terms he, and everyone else can understand: "What does the girl with seventeen abs know about being overweight and insecure and miserable? She's shredded and beautiful, and probably always has been."

And he's right--so Luc decided to tell his own story that's real--one that people can relate to. And the best part, is that The Drunk Diet doesn't condone drinking--the author even cuts down on his boozing while he gets into shape. Fantastic read, entertaining, and eye-opening. Pick it up.

Funny, entertaining, real....Luc tells it like it is. You can't live recklessly and be healthy and look 'hot in bed.' His journey is an entertaining read and an inspiration.

While I don't recommend all of Lucs tactics he does have some great ideas. Very motivational story about a lifestyle change not a diet. Great read very entertaining.
