5.0 out of 5 stars More Than a Thriller April 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
As a female and first-time reader of a thriller, I was absolutely mesmerized and could not put down The Eighth Day. Not only was the story riveting but Tom Avitabile's research and knowledge of computers, bombs, mathematics, and the various branches of the military contributed to the realism of this well-crafted novel. These details are real and, therefore, informative and educational to the reader. Since this book's narrative language is not formal or technical, it allows for easy reading. Tom Avitabile also lets us into the main character's background, inner thoughts, and tender feelings. I did not want the book to end. I wanted to know more about Hiccock, the main character, and his ex-wife, Janice. I know the book is a thriller but Tom Avitabile made me care about them. I look forward to reading his next book and hope Hiccock and his ex-wife are in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling, fascinating page turner. April 23, 2012
Format:Paperback
I found Tom's book a very interesting read. I am trying to find other words besides the cliches that always come to mind like page turner, thriller, cant put it down, but I am a reader not a writer so I must resort to what I feel. I was really magnetized to this story. Tom really knows how to draw you in with the logic of his story line and then throws a left hook that makes you just keep rolling the events you just read over and over in your head - "yeah, but why did she..." "right, but how did he...". I enjoyed The Eighth Day immensely, and recommend it to anyone who likes to think while they read. That might sound nonsensical, but this book is not PAP. It is an interesting story that makes you think, because it makes sense - even the horrible things that happen, you say wow yeah that could happen, and THAT is what keeps you riveted to it.

Thanks Tom - gimme more!

5.0 out of 5 stars So Real it's SCARY April 17, 2012
By David J
Format:Kindle Edition
The Eighth Day artfully weaves together a terrorist manhunt, the latest technology, presidential politics and the personal family dynamic of the main character into a thrilling narrative that keeps you guessing and more importantly provides a serious warning of what is possible today with the means and motive to prey on the unexpecting masses. It reads very theatrically, so it was very easy to imagine the visual images and colorful characters that construct this new take on the politcal thriller/crime novel.

I highly recommend picking it up. It is a quick read, but it will stay in your head long after the last page.
