This is seriously one of the best games I have played in a while. One caveat however, this is really for people who like open world type games. To really get the most out of skyrim you need to do it all. Not just the main quest but a bunch of the side quests, explore some of the random places, test out the crafting system. Once you start delving you will realize how deep this game is.

Aside from its sheer size and variety, the game is also amazingly developed. If your system can handle it the game is stunningly beautiful (it still looks good on older systems, but on the right rig it is amazing). The voice acting is pretty good with a good variety of flavor text so you don't just hear the same thing over and over.

It carries through with a really well refined combat and magic system from oblivion that works well and is very playable. Even if you haven't played the earlier stuff once you get the hang of the combat system it is fairly intuitive to use.

Lastly, if you are on a platform like steam or ok modding the game by yourself, do it. There are some amazing mods out there and it really takes the game to the next level.

One warning, be prepared to be sucked in. You can end up playing for thousands of hours and still feel like there is stuff you can do. This game is just about as engrossing as any you are going to play

Ah, Skyrim, the King of RPG games and the game that led to a flood of crappy "arrow to the knee" jokes that swarmed the internet for months. I doubt there is anyone who doesn't know of skyrim by now but i'll give you my two-cents. Skyrim is a action-RPG that plays out in a masvie open-world with thousands of side quests, things to plant/gather, and to fight. Skyrim is in a bloody Civil war between the Storm Cloaks and the Imperial army. But under the surface even more factions are fighting for turf, The Thieves guild, its glory long gone, strives to reclaim their title as masters of darkness. The Dark Brotherhood, crumbling and in despair seeks out new opportunities to return to the day when people feared them and respected them. The College of Winterhold, a old school for Mages, that fell into hard times after half of Winterhold fell into the ocean, uncovers a powerful relic that could allow Infinite wisdom or Infinite Destruction. That is just a sample of the deep story and background of skyrim. the world of skyrim IS alive and many a writer spent long hours making a amazing and life-like world.

The Best part about skyrim is there is so much to do! want to be a Vampire? you can do that! want to be a werewolf and murder people? you can do that! want to kill people and eat them for dinner? guess what? you can do that! (<-- You know that is a slight bit creepy.) but really, skyrim is an open-world dream. the main storyline is fun and engaging the side quest sometimes turn into their own winding paths that take hours to complete. this makes skyrim a HUGE source of fun and gameplay.

there are a few problems with Skyrim however.

Skyrim is a very detailed game that doesn't kill your PC and you can sit hours on end playing and still have plenty to do. Even after you 'beat' this game you will play it over and over in different styles. It never gets old!

I love this game. I first started playing the Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I played that game for hours and hours and hours. I started to get bored. I had the most powerful weapons, I had gone through and probably finished the main quest and 80% of the other quests. Finally my computer started having major problems and I was no longer able to play. I finally got a new PC and intermediately downloaded and started playing Skyrim. Ive played almost 100 hours and I'm still not bored. I plan to play another 100+ hours.

I finished the original (base) game over three years ago when it launched. The legendary edition includes everything the base game did, plus the Hearthfires, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn DLC.

This time through, I have already clocked more hours in the game (100+) and I am just starting on the Dawnguard expansion. Overall, this package is a fantastic "bang-for-the-buck" and with the ability to mod the game, I have found hundreds of hours worth of content to enjoy!

I really love Skyrim! The feeling you get when you complete the prologue mission and you get thrust into Tamriel is breathtaking. Definitely one of my all time favorite RPG games! As for the DLC, I really loved them too. Dragonborn is a great piece of storytelling and I love that it took those of us who played Morrowind back to the Bloodmoon expansion's island of Solstheim (One thing though, I didn't see any werewolves on my playthrough of it but I haven't checked every single location). Hearthfire, I'm slightly less crazy about. I wish there was more you could customize on the exterior of the house, but thats a situation that theres mods to fix. Dawnguard, though, is absolutely the best of the three. The storyline is epic (I played the vampire hunter side, I'm a sucker for playing the hero) and some of the areas added are beautiful. Its a tour de force through some of The Elder Scrolls more neglected lore aspects, clearing up stuff for those of us who are big lore buffs and finally showing us what (SPOILER) the living, unchanged Snow Elves/Falmer look like. That being said, the random vampire attacks are a bit annoying if they kill an npc you need, but thats something easily fixed with the console.

TL;DR Skyrim is awesome, quit being a hipster and buy it if you haven't already
