My 10 year old loves his copy of Theodore Gray's "The Elements" and has read it from cover to cover many times over. Surely that would translate into being excited about a puzzle with the periodic table from his favorite book, right? Turns out he'd rather read about elements than help put together a mostly black and grey puzzle. We started putting it together a week ago (and by we I mean ME, along with some help with cousins here for a visit) and we're maybe a third of the way done. It's a battle of wills now... I will not surrender to this puzzle. I will conquer it! Then I will glue it and frame it and that will be the end of it's puzzling days. Soon. Very soon. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go play "every black piece in every hole" for a few hours. *twitch*

This is a great puzzle. The pictures of the elements are vividly colored, and there are so many things to learn! (The periodic table of the elements has changed a lot since I took chemistry!) There is a good deal of black around the edges, and a lot of the silhouettes inside the image look similar, so the puzzle is fairly difficult, but if you can piece together the names of the elements and their numbers, the assembly of the whole puzzle is much easier.

Definitely a great gift for any science-minded puzzle addicts!

I purchased this puzzle as a gift for someone and it's a huge hit. Such a beautiful image and I plan on buying the books from the author, Theodore Gray. Highly recommend!

What better way to learn the periodic table than to challenge yourself to this puzzle. This was set out in the chemistry lab lounge for college students to work on. It was fun and challenging for all who attempted to complete the table. A great stress reliever for all.

We were really looking forward to framing this puzzle, but it is one of the worst cut puzzles we've seen, especially for the price. Pieces of cardboard were left on many pieces, but the bigger problem is that the layers of each piece are not compact and are flaking off, which leads the pieces to not fit snugly. Maybe we just received a lemon, but we are quite disappointed. Five dollar puzzles from any local craft store are manufactured better.

As a Chemistry teacher, I found this puzzle captivating and intriguing. But even if you aren't into Chemistry, you will love the crisp photos, the detail on each element, and the overall look of your finished product. I'll admit, the black nothing-ness of the edges was a bit difficult.
