Editorial Reviews

Review

"In this enlightening book, the author provides a comprehensive analysis of skilled performance and its acquisition, from a holistic and functional point of view. Since the book is, in addition, full of practical advice on the teaching and learning of skills, it will, I believe, benefit every educator and self-educator who reads it with the care and attention it deserves."-Israel Scheffler, Director, Philosophy of Education Research Center, Harvard University

This small book is a hidden gem. It's sad it hasn't been more widely read and reviewed by people. I'll gladly write the first review.

In the book, Dr. Dimon explains very clearly and convincingly how our mind and body systematically work in learning and mastering any new skill. I have seen many books on exploring the issue but never seen anything more comprehensive yet so simple. That is the beauty of Dr. Dimon's approach. It's right to the point and everything makes so much sense and actually works. Anybody who is trying to learn a skill like how to play instrument or how to play a sports or anything really can use this book to better understand how it can be done. This books gives whole new perspective and it's a truly eye opening experience.

An excellent book. Rated four stars rather than five because parts of the book were much more comprehensible due to my ten years in the martial arts. Without that experience I might have groping.

Very well written, absolutely essential points for learning a physical skill. But too long, and repetitious. Could have been half its length. Nevertheless, highly recommended.
