1.0 out of 5 stars Rip-off! Just a skirt pkg. added to a boy elf December 16, 2011

I was very disappointed. This is NOT a girl elf. It's the regular boy elf with a skirt added to the package. And it's not even "girl elf" packaging. A small package with the skirt is stuck into the boy elf package. Adding a skirt does NOT make it a girl elf. No longer hair or ANYTHING different than the boy elf. My granddaughter wanted a girl elf to keep her boy elf company. She'd think I was an idiot if I gave her this and tried to convince her it's a girl elf. Total rip-off - especially for the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Please read before purchasing November 7, 2012

For anyone looking to purchase this item please read before doing so. This particular Elf is a BOY that had a skirt stuck in the box. If that will bother you then you will want to look for he actual girl Elf with the skirt. I was very disappointed after opening this to see that it was a boy Elf and they just threw a skirt in the box. I think the title/description can be quite misleading if you don't read and re-read what it is you are getting. After getting ready to return my husband talked me into keeping it. To be honest the only real difference between the girl and the boy Elf is that the cheeks are rosier, I believe there are little earrings on it and the eye lashes vary. However, the eye lashes on my particular boy Elf are very feminine looking. So in the end we will keep the elf but I wanted to write this review in hopes that someone reads it and isn't disappointed like I was upon receiving this item. I think they need to change the title of this product to "The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition (includes BOY Elf with blue eyes) PLUS the Elf on the Shelf Skirt if you would like it to be a girl".

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK & GIRL ELF !!! October 10, 2010
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love this girl version of the Elf on the Shelf, and bought it for my daughter last year. It is an absolute favorite tradition in our house. My daughter still talks about it and keeps asking when the elf is coming to stay. My husband had a lot of fun with her and making up stories about the elf on a daily basis and the funny places I found it daily (this elf mysteriously moves around the house to keep an eye on all of us). We used it not only as inspiration for our daughter to be on her best behavior but it kept us - parents - in line, too!! Kids aren't the only ones who get crabby, ya know?

5.0 out of 5 stars Every child needs one of these April 13, 2011

Every child needs one of these. Interactivity ranges from just moving the elf around to a different "hiding" spot every day, to full-on elf-sized scenarios. We went mostly with the reporting, and our son made a point of hunting for his elf every day.

A friend ordered multiple elves. During the week just one elf would hide and report like normal. On the weekends the others would have elven mischief parties. They took all the decorations off the tree, they had snowball (cotton ball) fights, they re-arranged nick-knacks, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neat idea. November 22, 2010

I really wish I had been the one to think up this concept. The Elf on the Shelf is a great idea, explains how Santa can know if you have been good, the website is wonderful, graphics are covincing to a 3 year old, and has lots of neat activites. Our elf watches over our son and then flies back to report to Santa a good or bad day. The doll itself is a bit creepy, and does not feel super sturdy, but the child is supposed to never touch the doll anyway. So far, so good here. I do think it has the potential to point out that behavior has reaching consequences, either that or will make the child paranoid for life that someone is always watching. Either way, for now we are enjoying our elf.

My Daughter loves her Elf On A Shelf. It's cute and fun but not much help getting a two year old to behave. Anyway it's wonderful and hopefully next year she will understand it better.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's not a girl! December 8, 2012

Putting a skirt on a boy doll does not make it a girl. I can tell just by the pictures it's a boy. There are no earrings and no lip color. The hair is not right and the cheeks are not rosy. All it is is a boy in drag!!!! What a disappointment.
