About the Author

This author is an elementary and special education teacher. So that she can write stories, she tutors. As well, she does a lot of volunteering for English as a Second Language in her community, and volunteers at her church. This process of writing down the stories that Carola has told for over thirty years, to many students, started right after 9/11. It happened when some Stamford students had been worried about their fathers, who had been missing for three days. While mentioning our schedule one day, one little boy asked, “When do we hear your story that you started to tell us?” At that moment the author realized she should write her stories down for other children to read.

My third grader loved it! She asked me many historical questions throughout the time she was reading this book. She asked me if there was an activity book? Does anyone know?
