I found it very difficult to put this book aside once I started reading it. The author has taken historical fact and woven a truly heroic woman and her family into the years of Irish Emigration to the Americas during the potato famine of the 1840's. It's so believable I felt I was right there alongside the family through their trials and tribulations. Sprinkled with Irish wit, it is a most enjoyable voyage through 40 odd years of their lives. Well written and well plotted. A fine read for young and old alike.
