This small selection of the poems of Wallace Stevens is a sampling and not much more. Still, the reader is given a useful introduction to his work with a handful of his more exciting and accessible poems including "Sunday Morning," "The Anecdote of the Jar," "The Emperor of Ice-Cream," and "Peter Quince at the Clavier." The price is right for an entrance into the world of one of the seminal poets of the last century, and the set up and arrangement of text is acceptable.

Wallace Stevens, a great literary mind, disects the many facets of the human condition and leads the reader of his poetry on a mysterious ride as you try to catch the essence of his meaning. What he has to say is rich and golden. But put your thinking cap on!

from...Sunday Morning

"Death is the mother of beauty, mystical,
Within whose burning bosom we devise
Our earthly mothers waiting, sleeplessly."
