More About the Author

I used to be a wallflower. I didn't know about networking, and I didn't want to know. Then I was laid off from my job, and I was told, "You'll have to network to find your next job."

I was devastated, but I gave it a try. I finally networked my way to an interview for a sales job, and that's when I had a real "Ah ha!" moment. During the interview, I didn't have to talk. The owner of the company was obviously trying to sell me on the job. I didn't have to sell myself. The person who brought me in for the interview had already done it.

That's when I realized the power of networking.

I did well at that sales job, but decided I really wanted to help other people learn to network, so I started my own business as a networking coach. I've helped lots of clients build business relationships through networking and social media. I've gathered what I've learned on my own and through working with clients into The Enthusiastic Networker.

But I also have a love of fiction, and I decided to self-publish a series of urban fantasies set in Washington D.C., where I live. The first three are out, but there will be more to come.

Enjoy!

Juli does a great job of combining practical step-by-step advice with real life examples of good & bad networking. I recommend this book to all levels of networkers, from newbies to those who have done it for years. I network for a living & it has really helped me freshen up my approach.

"The Enthusiastic Networker" fills a void for information about integrating your social media efforts with networking. Juli has written a fun, easy to read book that really answers all of your networking questions in plain language. You're given solutions to your networking problems that you can implement immediately. Juli starts with the basics of creating a strategy for conversations before you even venture out the door to your first business networking event.

She also has a great way to quickly and accurately create your "elevator speech" in multiple time increments. She provides easy exercises you can practice while reading.

My favorite part of the book is the section on networking horrors. I'm not giving anything away, but you'll find yourself nodding your head and saying, "wow, she must know the same jerks I know!" Juli shows you how to avoid being a network horror.

Finally, Juli wraps up your networking efforts by showing you simple tools for organizing your social media efforts, such as Twitter and LinkedIn. Whether you're an experienced business networker who loves connecting people, or a first-timer, "The Enthusiastic Networker" will teach you something new. I had a "Eureka!" moment while reading the book, and am developing a strategy to reach out to a new market I'd never thought of targeting.
