Editorial Reviews

The historical action and excitement doesn't get any better than this: The Epic Drama Collection, a 9-disc DVD set, dramatically brings to life some of the most fascinating and courageous individuals in all of history. In these riveting, feature-length A&E favorites - Benedict Arnold: A Question of Honor, The Crossing, Longitude, The Lost Battalion, Napoleon, and Shackleton - some of history's most recognized figures use their spirit, curiosity, derring-do, and cleverness to battle seemingly insurmountable obstacles and endure until they triumph. Such world-class actors as Aidan Quinn, Kelsey Grammer, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Kenneth Branagh, Rick Schroder, Isabella Rossellini, Jeff Daniels and Gerard Depardieu give powerful performances of struggle and success amid the battlefields of World War I, the treacherous waters of the Delaware, the frozen wastes of Antarctica, and the scientific community of the eighteenth century.

I got this set for my husband and he loved it. He said it was so well done he felt like he was there. It is a set you can watch more than once. He would recommend it to anyone who loves good acting, and a well written program. It surpassed our expectations. Well worth the money.

i received this as a gift for Christmas and love it. the attention to detail in Shackleton was as close to the book as it could be and still not drag on for several hours.

If not the - certainly one of the best collections of movies I've ever purchased. Great acting and realistic real life history regarding some rather under reported events. I already own "Shackleton" but wanted the rest of the movies in any event. Not a boring moment in any of the movies - and I would say an excellent thing to give as a gift to younger folks since the portraits are so well done all the way around. I wish there were more historical dramas of this caliber.

I really do urge this set. It shows their struggles to get funds for their explorations. Which seems a problems all the explorers. I do admit I haven't finished them. I do, however believe that these are true accounts of their lives.

I hope I can add more to this when I can finish the set. Since I can add to this thank you Amazon, I want to tell about Christopher Columbus. He discovered the East Trade Winds and the West Trade Winds. They knew when to come here and when to leave here to get back. He was a great navigator I always wondered how those ships knew about the wind. After that I guess so I think he deserves to be the discoverer of America. But the sad thing he didn't know how great his discovery is.He died not knowing what great thing he had done. So here's to you Christopher Columbus you are the discoverer of our country. They did lose one ship. There is a lot to learn about the winds in this dvd. He did discover the winds to get here and how to get back. That belongs to him. Finish more later is I can.
