About the Artist

Few people knew in 1990 when a low-key lo-fi band from Moncton started playing, that they would get swept up into something big. In the early nineties, Eric's Trip became the first of many Canadian bands signed to Sub Pop. Their fuzzy, lo-fi pop and trippy, tuneful songs became a trademark that would enrapture young music fans all over the continent and beyond. In 1993 after several cassettes and EP's Eric's Trip released their debut full-length on Sub Pop, Love Tara was full of sweet, well-crafted songs that endeared audiences to the band all over the world. The release of Forever Again in September 1994 was a clear presentation of the band's changing internal dynamics in song form. Forever Again was an excellent record, full of high-energy songs and passionate dynamism. Afterwards, they moved on to produce their first studio album Purple Blue which came out in February 1996, proving that the band was incredibly versatile. Unfortunately, musical tensions came to a headway that summer, and the band played their last show in Moncton in 1996. Guitarist Rick White was glad to focus on his other band Elevator To Hell with his wife Tara and Eric's Trip drummer Mark Gaudet. Elevator to Hell released a number of records, also under the names Elevator Through and currently Elevator. Their most recent record, A Taste of the Complete Perspective was released in late 2000 on Teenage USA. Bassist Julie Doiron recorded a number of records both before and after Eric's trip broke up. Julie Doiron won a Juno award for her 1999 record Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars. So with all the new things the bands all had going on since 1996, why get back together? The band discussed getting together for a long time, but logistical problems and nostalgia for the success of Eric's Trip confused the process. It took the band some time to come to terms with why and how an Eric's trip reunion should be done. In August 2001 Eric’s Trip released a best of live CD entitled “the Eric's Trip show” featuring live material from 1991-96.

Eric's Trip has created great pieces of work though the 6 years of their existence. From 1990 to 1996 they put all their heart into their music to create something that everyone can enjoy. The Eric's Trip Show is a must to have if you are a fan of this band. If you like fast paced punk/rock type of music try listing to My Room, Listen, Frame or Sunlight. The other songs on the album reflect on the band itself with their great song playing. What I am trying to say is that out of all the songs done by Eric's Trip most of their best is on this CD. Trust me, this is something everyone must have.
