The album does not include the greatest hits neither from the Atlantic years nor from the ABC-Paramount years. Only the Atlantic years are better represented by The Definitive Soul Collection CD of 2006. The compilations: 2001 Definitive Ray Charles and 1999 Ultimate Hits Collection combine the best of both the periods.

Basically, this is a fine compillation from Ray's early years; at some tracks he even sounds quite close to Nat King Cole (his early idol, from the period before he actually found his magnificent voice).

This is still fine popular music, although a notch bellow Ray's tops and, since the title is misleading, there goes one star...

Ray Charles demonstrates how brilliant of a musician/artist that we was, while his music is and always will be in the hearts of all who love great music. Ray has incorporated Blues, Jazz, Gospel, and my God, even country in a way that no other artist could even come close to. I highly recommend this. Something to check out also: This new artist, David Hatfield has developed a new style or maybe category of music called RBP(Ragtime Blues and Polka) and tributes Ray as one of his major influences.
