Very nearly everything the casual Kansas fan needs.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Essential 3.0 Kansas (Eco-Friendly Packaging) (Audio CD)
Very nice job on the mastering of this CD. You'll hear Kansas' recorded brilliance better than ever.
As a compilation, this set captures the essence of what was the best period for Kansas fans. Sure there are some pieces that I personally would definitely swap out. For example, leaving "Icarus--Borne on Wings of Steel" out of this collection is practically a sin, yet, we get "Fight Fire With Fire" and "Play The Game Tonight"... WHY!? Still, after I gave the CD a couple of spins, I was hard pressed to find much else to really complain loudly about. (Ok, I wasn't really crazy about the order of the tracks on the CDs) So much great music. Long-time fans will still appreciate and enjoy the improved clarity of these recordings. First-time Kansas listeners are are the verge of a great discovery!

Truly The Best Kansas Anthology Available,
By
This review is from: The Essential 3.0 Kansas (Eco-Friendly Packaging) (Audio CD)
THE ESSENTIAL 3.0 KANSAS is truly the best anthology available on heartland progressive hard rock favorites Kansas, with three discs and several songs that were left off either THE ULTIMATE KANSAS and/or SAIL ON: THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION. It also omits the totally unnecessary songs on MCA and other labels, focusing entirely on the group's years on Epic. Many inspirational songs may be found here, so if you want to look good for the opposite sex, a good way to do it is to clear your living space out of all other Kansas anthologies and replace them with this one. If you want a good reason to wear a Kansas T-shirt for your significant other and/or your favorite celebrity, this anthology offers 33 reasons why such a desire is perfectly normal for young-to-middle-aged single people.

Haven't heard these songs in +25 years. Was so happy going through the playlist until I realized one of the songs I most faintly remember wasn't there. Still a great collection. Going through a midlife reassesment in my music: Yes, Floyd, Styx, Rush (even X, TSOL Iggy, etc). Maybe arena rock/early punk is something that will occupy chunks in my CD collection.
Kansas was one of my first concerts: Dust in the Wind played in those smoky curtain things, the hammer/anvil and laser sparks, Robby's crazy hair...nice.
