This is a great bible if you want an easy read with no extra filler. The New Century Version is written based on a third-grade (US) student's vocabulary, which makes it easy to understand. Unlike so many student or teen bibles, this one has no sidelights or commentary. Although it would not be a recommended read for an serious Bible study due to its simple text, it is great way for a child or teen to start a daily Bible reading habit.

The only other negative is its thin pages and inexpensive paper cover and binding make it easily susceptible to wear and tear, so if it is read every day, it won't hold up like a more expensive Bible. Still a good investment.

In my case this Bible is for a specific purpose. I assist in a ministry for persons with disabilities and this Bible is used because of its simpler vocabulary. It is easier to read than the NRSV. New English or American.

This NCV version of the Bible is translated into easy to understand English. I bought these for my Grade School children, since the King James Version is sometimes even difficult for me to understand!
This book has a list in the back. The list is broken down into the 365 book parts so you can easily accomplish reading this bible in one year! You can either go page by page or you can jump around the Bible... as long as you read one of the parts in the 365 daily reading list everyday... you will have accomplished reading the Bible in a year!
One thing to note about this particular book is that it is on yellowish newspaper print paper, NOT the usual white bible paper you see.

My copy has regular white paper, not the yellow newsprint mentioned by another reviewer. The text is large and sharp, and the translation is easy to read.

Bought this for devotional reading as I wanted an easier to read version. I noticed that it was used quite often by Max Lucado so I gave it a shot and so glad I did. Easy to use and very readable.

If finds the book and Chapters of the text, but doesn't show a quick reference for the verse. You have to scan the entire chapter to find the verse you desire

While working at a Christian bookstore, so many people asked me which version of the Bible was easiest to understand. For years, we were told to tell customers to get the NIV. However, I noticed that it's still quite confusing and isn't quite modern enough, especially for young readers, and it uses a lot of outdated language. The NCV is a wonderful translation that strives to stay true to the original text while making so much more sense. It's my favorite version of the Bible and definitely worth the low Kindle price that I paid for it. There are other easy-to-understand "translations" out there, but they are usually paraphrases and not actual translations, such as The Message or New Living Translation. This version is the best of both worlds - readable and accurate. I love it!
