"I couldn't put it down." I usually reserve that compliment for fiction, when a story grips me enough to keep me up until the wee hours turning pages. But this nonfiction work has that same "I gotta know more" appeal. It is packed from front to back with useful information, engaging human stories, and commonsense advice that kept me moving easily and eagerly from one topic to another. Mongelluzzo is a psychotherapist of many years' experience, and her deep knowledge shows on every page. She has helped all sorts of people with their life issues (in general) and their self-esteem issues (in particular), so she knows what thoughts plague us and what actions we need to take to move forward in life. Her advice is never condescending, never patronizing; instead, she looks at psychological problems with a level of understanding and wisdom that few authors in this field can master. The book provides information that clarifies, theory that explains, and lessons that enlighten. Obviously, this book will prove valuable to those who suspect their self-esteem may be low, but I recommend it for everyone. Who doesn't need to set a goal, right a wrong, or manage a difficult friend or relative? Mongelluzzo offers solutions to those problems and more in this wonderfully readable book.

For those with low self-esteem such as myself this is the book to get. I went to Atlantic City and I made cards for myself to read when I get time during the day to encourage me about self-esteem, happiness, and socialization. Just because a person tells you about yourself doesn't mean that it is true. I always felt that anyone older than me telling me about my behavior doesn't mean that it's true. I went halfway through the book and plan on finishing it this winter with more que cards to carry with me during the course of the day.

I bought this book thinking that maybe i would learn something new, but not! There are better books here in Amazon to buy like Self Esteem Matthew McKay Patrick Fanning I highly recommend this, i bought since so many years ago and it definitely helped me a lot. There are in my book shelf just in case :)

This book is very general and vague not so deep in discussing the main ingredients for reaching self esteem. For example when discussing some types of personalities when talking about difficult people like people suffering from compulsive and obsessive personalities, narcissistic personality, etc, they do but very briefly and i'd have liked to read more and more but they don't dig in the topics as i had desired.

So i don't recommend this book to anyone that want to know more about self esteem, keep your money don't waste it! If you want to acquire the one that i bought from here just write me. If you are a beginner and don't know anything about self esteem then buy it:) Hope it helps !!!
