Book Description

From saving for a new bike to investing their allowance online, kids get the "cents" they need with this. Kids will also learn: how coins and bills are made; what money can buy--from school supplies to fun and games; how credit cards work; ways to watch money grow--from savings to stocks; cool financial technology; and more! Saving money isn't about a piggy bank anymore. Today's kids are investing money, starting their own small businesses, and watching their savings earn interest. This book will teach kids all they need to know about the "green" they earn so they can save or spend it wisely. This edition includes completely new material on online banking, opening a bank account, and saving allowance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative September 1, 2009
By S.Dobbs
Format:Paperback
Facts presented in an entertaining way that may appeal to an 11 or 12 year. Interesting facts and presentation of a potentially dry subject. It covers the early history of money, the banking system, the business of money, the Federal Reserve, the Euro, & how to earn, save, and invest money.

I have two girls 8 & 10 and it is about time they get to know the value of money. I looked into several different books before purchasing this one. I am glad this is the one I bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for kids and adults April 9, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Both my 8 year old and my 10 year old have enjoyed picking up this book and reading it on their own. My husband and I, and my mom also have enjoyed perusing through it. It covers everything having to do with money. It's rather fascinating.

2.0 out of 5 stars Recommends gambling March 25, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I would have given this book 5 stars. Except for one sentence - page 66:

"How grown-ups earn money.... Luck. Some people win money by playing the lottery."

Appalling. People have enough trouble not wasting their money on gambling, without having it RECOMMENDED to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great idea but complicated February 25, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this along with a bank for my 9 year old grand daughter. After looking at it I felt it was too wordy and too complicated for a young elementary child to latch onto. I put it away for later.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book for teaching kids financial basics... July 12, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book doesn't provide any magical methods to get kids interested in learning about finances and understanding why saving makes sense, but it does provide a number of useful exercises that can make the process a lot easier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book! June 28, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
In continuing with her reading and educational growth, I decided to purchase this book for my granddaughter because she has a very inquisitive mind. She absolutely loves it and loves to talk about what she has learned from it.
