After the initial excitement of the engagement and the surprise of a wedding date only 10 months away, the shock of being the MOB set in along with the fear that accompanied my realizing that I knew NOTHING about what i should/needed to do! I am so pleased that I bought this book! I especially like the well-organized, straightforward, practical delivery of information that is enhanced by tips and alerts about critical information to consider or actions to take. But it goes beyond to comments and advice that address the up and down emotional aspects of this very special time - and there are many - that are brief, focused, and oh, so welcome! The author is someone who clearly speaks from well-grounded experience. So, if you are a MOB who is feeling lost or out-of-control with all the information available in cyberspace, the sheer volume of vendors available, the costs associated with the wedding" industry", and your desire to do "the best" for your daughter - buy this book! READ this book!

learned a lot and reconfirmed a great deal of wedding/social ettiquette that makes for a "feel good" pleasant family event...more inclusive than exclusive...and not in a country club kind of way either.

There are now so many sad times in our lives that we gather to grieve...weddings are a blessing and a stellar opportunity to share sweet times and to make memories... cherished ones that can be revisited on film and in your day dreams forever.

The only thing that would have added a positive note would have been the added disk or memory stick with a timeline or spreadsheets for the laptop.

Our daughter got engaged at Christmas and we began planning her wedding. I knew things had changed A LOT since I got married 34 years ago, but I didn't really understand how much until we started this process. This book was helpful, funny, and reassuring. It really helped me understand why certain things are now done (eg, the first look before the wedding) and has helped me better accept my daughter's ideas. My daughter and I are crazy close, but this is an emotional time and this book addresses those emotions pretty well. There aren't that many books written specifically for us MOBs - this one is well-organized and easy to read. I even read several sections aloud to my husband because they were so entertaining!
